Miracle-Gro Seed Starting Potting Mix, 8-Quart

This is potting mix. It works as it should. I honestly cant tell a difference between this and any other mix I have used. Things grow in it. It holds water pretty well. My plants seem healthy and happy. But I used this soil and a different kind at the same time and honestly cant tell a difference between the plants.

I'm a first time gardener and this soil has helped my herbs grow beautifully. Makes me look like a pro! I started my herbs from seeds and they are doing well! Like I said I'm a first timer but at this price point and with the success I have had I will be purchasing it again.

Perfect texture for starting seeds and African violets

Great mix! Even my seeds packed for a few years ago use sprouted - which I did not expect - so I had to "thin them out". After awhile - just planted one per pot or two (have now two plants in those). Only problem - gnats seem to love this too. So - I had to give it four of five stars as I had gnats in my. home - it makes me have to clean my garbage disposal, get rid of any vegetables sitting in my fresh fruit and vegetable counter arrangement and take out all my recycling and garbage more frequently than when there are no gnats. I pretty much hate gnats - so I am going to grow everything on my patio in double insulated pots next year.

I purchased the Miracle-Gro Seed Starting Potting mix because it was recommended along with the seeds I was purchasing. The Miracle-Gro soil helped the Miniclover seeds take hold and sprout up nicely where my AC drip pipe is located.

This stuff is great for starting seeds. It’s soft enough for delicate sprouts and roots to push through easily. I’ve tried other brands and my seeds don’t do as well. I wish it came in a larger package

The miracle grow seed starter in my opinion is the way to grow seeds. No disappointment on seeds sprouting, 90 percent of the seed germinated within 7 days.. the medium/soil stays moist and provides nutrients to the young seedlings!

First of all this mix is supposed to be for seed starting so I should not have to pick out big chunks of anything. I had to painstakingly pick out a lot of harmful sticks and like bark just big pieces that could kill my seedlings by not letting them sprout up. Other than the big chunks of sticks bark I like this mix but I will use a different mix next time. And I don't think seedlings need Miracle grow until the true leaves come out between the seed leaves. The seed has all the nutrients a seedling needs until it gets the true leaves.
