LRI AW Photon LED Keychain Micro-Light, White Beam This is the screwless back, push AND hold version. The one with the screws on the back has a slide switch on the front for locking the beam on. This one turns itself off the second you stop squeezing. LRI also makes an electronic switching version without a mechanical slide switch which will lock on by squeezing alone and includes brightness levels and a flashing mode. The cheapest is this push and hold version. Impressive light output and battery life. I used the slider version to hike out of Half Dome in Yosemite (from top to the Valley) in darkness the from Nevada Fall down to the Valley (NOT along the MIst Trail!). It provided plenty of light and the mechanical slider meant my thumb and finger didn't collapse from constant squeezing. This cheaper squeeze-only version has one outstanding feature besides much lower cost. It is really, really hard to kill the battery accidentally from accidental squeezing in the pocket, from coins, pocket knife, money clip etc., since even if some random pressure activates it, the moment the pressure is released the light turns back off - and constant accidental pressure is unlikely as stuff generally shifts around. Also, it is really really foolproof, I've had some problems with the slider edition. So - the electronically switching version can be turned on accidentally and drain itself. And the slider version is much more expensive, trickier to reassemble after battery change, and generally finicky. That leaves this as the king of emergency key chain lights that won't self-destruct. There's only one small, incredibly minor problem. It takes the harder to find 2016 batteries instead of the easier to find and often cheaper 2032 batteries. It needs dual 2016 batteries. Two 2016 batteries are as thick as one 2032 battery. The cheapest, easiest source of 2016's is Amazon Basics. Tip - if you DO use the 2032 battery, in this, in spare one or older one - you suddenly have a half-as-bright version which is neat for inflight use, where you don't wan't to wake up the whole cabin when you are trying to use the flashlight to find something. I often carry two together, the bright squeeze one with double 2016's and an older slider model with as single 2032 for reading.

Photon Microlights are perfect for small illumination applications such as finding keyholes and camp chores. What’s more they can help keep you alive when things go sideways in the dark. Durable, waterproof, compact and ultralight, they live on my car keyrings and backpacking lanyards. Nothing is more miserable…and potentially more dangerous … than having to operate in the dark…whether getting back to camp after answering the call of nature in on a moonless, stormy night or finding things you need after a late-night car wreck. My microlights are always handy and always work. I consider them to be first-line survival tools as well as super convenient.

Nice little keychain light to have in your pocket. Very bright, the only drawback to this light is that it doesn't have the little locking mechanism that keeps the light switched on and frees up your fingers to work with. My old Photon light had that mechanism - this model does not though.

I've unfortunately bought several other brands and types of this relatively simple device. And I've paid WAY too much for some of them that broke easily or had other significant problems. This gem works exactly like it promises. Its design is simple and durable, avoiding some of the delicate parts that other LED keychain lights sometimes use. These other lights might look "cooler", but I've found they are prone to breaking (see my other review, Microbeam Flashlight , if you're curious). Most importantly (at least to me), it only lights when I want it to! This may sound like a silly thing to get excited about, but I've found other brands commonly go off in my pocket unintentionally. And some other brands of LEDs have a "leave it on" position. Leaving this small convenience light on when not pushing the button isn't necessary for me. And I've found it just increases the chances of accidentally turning it on in my pocket, only to find that the battery goes dead far before it should. If you only buy one LED keychain light this year, I highly recommend this one. And I've found it makes a simple, useful, and reasonably priced gift also.

I was looking to replace a keychain light that was dim and unobtrusive. This one is very bright and doesn't meet my needs, but I gave it to my husband, and he likes it just fine. He's an astronomer, and the red light is perfect for him.

I got tired of pulling out my phone to use as a flashlight to get my key in the key hole at night, so I decided to buy a little LED for my keyring. This light is perfect for what I need it for and is brighter then I expected. It's also smaller than I expected so when I shine it at the door I have to angle it down in order to get my key in. I could honestly aim it at the floor and have enough light to still be able to see so its no problem at all. Its cheap in price but not cheap in quality, you should definitely buy it! Pros: Bright Small Con: I guess a con could be you have to hold the button down for the light to stay on, but that could also cause it to stay on in your pocket and lose battery life.

I was surprised at how tiny and lightweight this flashlight really is. In fact, I sometimes have trouble finding it on my keychain because it's just so small (I also have a lot of keys on my keychain, but seriously, this flashlight is TINY). It gives off bright light, especially for its size. I sometimes think it is TOO small, because when I try to grab it I can't always find it in the dark, but if you have a dedicated keyring for it or another way to quickly find it, that wouldn't be a problem (and I certainly don't think that warrants a reduction of stars). It adds practically no weight at all to your keychain, which is great.

I felt very mislead by this product description from Amazon. This is not the same as a true "PHOTON" brand light that I have purchased in the past. The LED is a bluish white, and the "beam" diameter is much smaller than the branded "PHOTON" light which has a brighter, whiter LED. It has a bunch of screws on the backside (that you can't see in the posted photo) and it looks like it was put together in a sweat shop, whereas the real "PHOTON" light says "MICRO PHOTON LIGHT" on the obverse and is elegantly constructed with no screws. The key rings are also of a lighter gage, and not of the same quality. I would return, but with the low cost it is not worth the hassle, and this knock-off light should still be handy. Time will only tell if it lasts as long as the real deal. If I could have a "do-over" I would have gladly payed more for the real thing; the light that a real "MICRO PHOTON LIGHT" produces is brighter and it illuminates a larger area.
