zhi yun Magnetic Fill Light for Smooth 5 / Smooth Q4

Bought 2 additional lights for my Zhiyun Smooth 5S gimbal and they certainly provide the necessary additional lighting required in some scenarios. Especially as they both came with 4 coloured filters which, when working with the main light on the gimbal softens the filter colour tones which I think will become very useful in the future. The lighting power level from zero to 600 lumens can be adjusted on the gimbal. Indications from what I’ve read suggest using the additional light units will knock a couple of hours off the gimbal battery life (from 7 hours) if used for a long or frequent shoots where additional lighting is required. That’s plenty of time all in all. As I carry a portable power pack with me it won’t concern me when out and about. The little units solidly attach to the magnetic mounts on the gimbal with, I would say, zero likelihood of falling off without being forcibly knocked off. Not cheap but not too bad a price in the scheme of things. I had hoped to buy them discounted but that’s life. I could probably have waited for a promotion to appear…

Nice and bright

So this only works with the gimble which is fine until you realize that when the battery is dead you bin it and buy another. In a world of recycling this does not sit well with me

It works fine. I have two on my Zhiyun Smooth 5 without any loss of light output.

I had one of these lights already. I wanted two with the idea of double the light output. When using two lights on my Smooth 5 the light output drops on both lights so the total light output is the same as using one light. I believe its current limited to draw the total of one light, when using two. There is still a benefit which is a wider field of light. Keep this in mind when buying two. Otherwise the quality of the light is excellent! metal case, looks like a high quality LED panel vs matrix of LEDs. Its questionable if two of these are worth having considering you dont get double the light output.
