Aluminum Screen Frame, 3/4X5/16X72 SCREEN FRAME

Shipment arrived without issue, well packaged. Although it was delivered by one of the same day drivers not a delivery company. At first glance they match the ones I got at the box store. Honestly the box store was a bit cheaper but I was to lazy to go get more. I'm glad I was lazy! Outside form is exactly the same, however the inside part where the spline goes. Is substantially thicker for support. See picture the top is from the box store. Only complaint you can tell these are cut fast, the ends are a bit rough. No issue for me, I'm doing 45 degree cuts, so that will go away. Tip don't waste your time with the plastic corners go get a miter box, do the 45 degree corners and use the metal corner brackets. The plastic give not strength, bent my first one trying to install it. The plastic corners let it twist and turn.

Replaced my old screens with solar screens. These frame pieces are good quality and easy to work with. I was able to cut them all with a miter box and hacksaw. To make the screens I used 5/16 screen frames, 0.155 diameter spline and the 5/16 stamped aluminum frame corners. I used Phifer SuperSolar screens. Came out really nice and I can already tell a difference in both sun glare and heat transfer through the windows.

We used this frame to make new screens for our 20 year old mobile home, whose screens were cheap when new and obliterated with age. This screen frame is really nice - very sturdy but easy to work with. The corners we bought (same brand) are so much more sturdy than what had disintegrated in our old screens and were very easy to install in the cut frames. We found a rubber mallet came in very handy to seat them. Overall we are very satisfied with these DIY screen-making products and have enjoyed a nice Saturday project. We purchased pet-grade screen that our cats (hopefully) won't destroy so we can let fresh air in and keep the bugs out. We highly recommend these products.

Took away one stair due to them sending wrong cord to go in frame that was to come with frames. Otherwise Works well easy to cut and make frames with. Very good strength. The younger boys pulled the frame from the window and bent it with to much pull. Don’t know if they are long haul strong yet, but we will see. We had 40 windows to do.

Overall sturdy, very good price. Only negative was some pieces had dome dings in them and the end cuts were not perfect 90 degrees. Still buying all the components, frame, corners, springs, stine and screen much cheaper than having a screen made. Cost came out to a little over $22 a window versus having custom made at $135-$150 a window.

The screens that came from the window manufacturer were bowed like an hourglass. I was especially impressed and relieved that those I made with this product came with a slight bow. After constructing a jig to hold and build the frames (ten 5 x 5 screens) they came out perfectly. Great product packaged perfectly and fast delivery. I also bought corners and spline from the same manufacturer.

If your windows are large, (over 2 or 3 feet maximum) avoid at all costs. These aluminum rods are not nearly stiff enough. I wasted a bunch of time and money. The company cambered them to try and fix this, but it is not enough. They only worked for my really small bathroom windows. All the other others failed. Let me explain: After measuring and putting the frames together, they fit in the windows nicely. BUT once I installed the mesh onto the frames, the taughtness of the window mesh would cancel out the camber and make them change shape, becoming unwieldy and impossible to install properly. Just a note, I wasn’t putting the mesh in too tight— I was only using enough tension so that the screen mesh wouldn't have waves in it. By the way, I had one older larger aluminum screen frame that was still on one of my windows-I installed screen mesh on it just like the others and didn’t have any of these problems— because the older aluminum stock is much stiffer. I guess they don’t make things like they used to.

This screen frame is strong and well worth the cost.
