As soon as I opened the bag a strong almost shrimpy smell filled the room. even after I sealed it in a plastic bag the smell continued. They aren't spicy at all and have a stronger after taste then taste in general, it tastes how old sea food smells and is very oily. The texture is chewy and spongy which I believe is intended and pretty satisfying, but unsettling paired with the taste and smell.

I liked these, they have a very spicy kick to them, the texture is interesting, so if you're not good with textures, they're not for you. They've got a sort of tough chew to them (if you watch the same videos on social media I have, you know they give a pull to tear off some). The smell is strong-ish, and unusual to Western tastes, it makes me think of a sesame, peanut buttery scent, combined with the chili oil scent, this can seem strong to anyone not used to it. The taste is spicy. Now I know why those little kids were sucking their breath in to cool their mouths. Chewing on them, they have an almost spongey texture that releases an oily juice, that has all the spice. These aren't meaty, they're not like a snack stick, these are made with wheat gluten (hence the nutty scent) and is basically soaked in chili oil. So, if you like any of those things, you might enjoy these.

Saw the Chinese snack shop videos, watched some reviews and latiao looked awesome. I love spicy foods, when ghost pepper became a big deal I was eating nothing but ghost pepper wings. This stuff isn't that spicy to me, I was expecting it to be chewy and I love the way chili crunch by momofuke tastes, but this tasted like burnt bacon drippings. Like if you took the oil from cooked bacon and mixed it with the gristle from the pan and injected it all into a sponge. I also had to get something to eat after because it gave me burps that tasted just like the smell. The best I can describe that is a house of a smoker who let's their cat pee on the carpet. I'm not too upset because it was 11$ so not too much lost here, I wish I liked it as much as I thought I would but I had one strip and gave the other packs to a friend for then to try and throw away if they prefer.

I was so worried because so many other reviews said they smell and taste bad but to me they smell amazing and taste great! Super spicy though so idk how my GERD will react but it has a strong cumin smell. I guess if you dont like the spice cumin then these wont smell or taste good to you. Cumin was used a lot in the tacos my grandma made so to me these smell and taste meaty. The texture is one that I have craved since childhood. Soft but chewy and it has a nice crunching sound despite being soft and chewy. I look forward to trying the less spicy ones when those arrive in a few weeks. So good, so tasty, and I can smell them as soon as I open the bag and it smells so good! Again if you dont like the smell of cumin then these probably wont smell good to you at all. These are so spicy they can probably warm you up in an Alaskan winter!

It's very spicy. Like if white people level spice is level 2, this is 6. The texture is chewy but the most interesting thing is when u bite down and start chewing u get a mouthful of oil/flavor juices. It's like if u took a spicy cheeto and made it chewy and added oil to it. Can turn a lot of people off I think. I can taste sesame, clove, pepper, chill, garlic. Worth spending the $10 in my opinion to just try something unique.

I’ve been wanting to try these after seeing those chinese candy shop videos so I got them. The taste is okay and for me it wasn’t too spicy, but the ingredients are terrible and no where on the product page did I see a warning about possible lead or cadmium exposure. One singular stick was enough for me, and I will toss away the rest.

This did not have the best flavor. I’m pretty open to trying new things but the smell is very fishy and since it’s very oily it ca stain and stick to places for some time. The sodium on theses are through the roof. Overall I have taken a few bites and it’s ok the texture is chewy and oily and definitely taste better than they smell just not my kind of taste. Very similar oily texture to chili oil

Nasty does not taste good at all tastes very stale and it makes you tongue sting I don’t recommend at alllll!!! It smelled very bad like it had so much preservatives the texture it was really chewy and very sweet and spicy but like it made your tongue sting for a good while it wasn’t pleasant at all!!!
