I got this because its got BNC and its got good reviews. The rewiews are on point. It gets the job done. The BNC connector is a big plus for stability when you swap out antennas. This thing is whippy. It has a great big range of flex that makes it hard to break. It also takes strain off the connector. It keeps moving even after you put the radio down. Be warned. It can knock it over. Good antenna. Buy one.

Works great. I am able to hit several repeaters I could not with the original antenna. Also receives aviation frequencies better than a aviation antenna. CL KC7BJE

My portable radio was sitting next to my recliner on a side table. It had this antenna on it and while on scan it picked up the ISS perfectly as it passed over on 5+ S. It seems well made.

I lost my antenna doing touch and goes in my Powered Parachute so I ordered this replacement. It works great at my house and at the airport. I haven't taken it up flying yet but I think it will be fine. I have an Icon A6 radio. It is rather long and quite flexible so the end flops around a bit more than I'd like.

Added this little gem to my Quansheng (added a sma to BNC connector) and WOW! For the money I wasn't expecting the results I got. SWR 140Mhz 1.03 and 440mhz SWR 1.43! The not so good: GMRS SWR is 3.0 and it won't even transmit 220mhz (must be back feeding it all?) Plus a bonus, it picks up AM aircraft 124mhz pretty good! Overall for the money this is a steal. It destroys my Nagoya NA-320A which im a little mad about.

Great Antenna it even beat my 800 MHz radio shack’s performance and and pair it with a moon taker amp and it’s Great!!!!

I think anything performs better than the small Uniden scanner antenna. I then bought a 12 inch (30.5cm) 25-1300 mhz scanner antenna for improved performance. I listen a lot to 2m-70cm ham repeaters on the scanner. Now I'm trying this HYS-771N antenna I found the perfomance a little (not much) better on the 2m band than the 12 inch aftermarket scanner antenna I bought. But on the 70cm band (1/2 wave) on this antenna the performance was fantastic compared to my scanner antenners and this is where the upgrade is worth it. This antenna is rated at 1/4 wave at 2m. I have a dedicated 5/8 wave 2m antenna which out performs this antenna but is much longer and might be a bit of a hassle on the go for some people. So for top performance I use this antenna for 70 cm listening and my dedicated (much longer) 5/8 wave antenna for 2m. I don't transmit so can't comment on transmission performance. Also antenna packet says also receive only modes on 120/150/300/450/900 Mhz bands which I so far havn't tried.

At this price I wasn't expecting a whole lot to be impressed with, but I was proven wrong. I'm very impressed with the performance and build quality of this antenna. Its a massive improvement over my UBC125XLT's supplied rubber duck antenna. Its performance is great over both VHF and UHF (receive only, I'm not using it to transmit).. Recommended

A lot better than the stock Uniden the scanner antenna. Working well in the aviation band also.
