Coffee Bean Direct Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, Whole Bean Coffee, Arabica Coffee, Light Roast, 5 Pound Bag (Pack of 1)

I'm a long time coffee junkie. I think I had my first cup when I was five or six years old. One of my most potent memories as a child growing up in New York was going to Schraffts or Chock Full 'O Nuts to enjoy a cup of coffee, New York style. I've gone from stove top percolated pots to electric pots to camp-fire brewed to drip machines. And I must include several years of "chow hall" coffee while in the military. I've been using whole beans for many years and even spent a few years roasting my own beans. In all, some sixty years of varied levels of products & as varied means of delivery. Then a friend recommended Yirgacheffe. Now I cannot compare Coffee Bean Direct's Yirgacheffe product to other roasters but I can say, without exception, this is one fine tasting coffee. Two cups, prepared with a French press, and my day begins in a most positive way. The price is right, the quality is outstanding and the taste - well you have to try it for yourself. Do yourself a favor, you'll enjoy the flavor. Coffee Bean Direct has a winner with this coffee.

The aroma of the bean is incredible. The flavor profile is a little more nutty than it is bright and fruity, which explains the 4 star verses a 5. Just doesn't quite match my personal taste profile. However, it's hard to beat the quality for the price especially when you consider they have 5lb bags available.

Very smooth and aromatic fresh coffee.

This coffee is absolutely high quality. I was very confused when I read some reviews criticizing the fact that is not "dark-roasted". The truth is that I started buying this specific type of coffee precisely because of that, and it was indicated in the details of the coffee in the Amazon web page. It said very clearly "medium-roasted". The aroma of this coffee when I grind some is absolutely wonderful. The taste is great, and the medium-roast allows to experience the flavor of the coffee wonderfully. Not all coffee has to be dark-roasted to be appreciated, and yes there is some bitter taste in this coffee, hey! coffee has a bitter component on it!!. Another thing I have never experienced with Coffee Bean Direct is lack of freshness, as it is stated in some review, maybe they had a bad batch and you should contact them and let them know?

Earlier I left the following review. Turns out there was a malfunction with our water softener. I have been using this coffee for over two years. This coffee received in this order is clearly not the same as all of my previous ones. I would return it but the product is not returnable.

I am thrilled that Amazon is shipping to Hawaii now!! I purchased a bag of this coffee about a month ago so my daughter, in college on the continent, could bring it back with her. Now I do not have to wait until she is on break! :D I love African coffee, and it is neigh on impossible to find in the islands. I had been ordering direct from another roaster until they changed their shipping terms and it cost $25 to mail 2 12 oz bags: loved the coffe, but... too much for postage. The coffee I received from coffee bean direct was not the best Ethiopian I have ever had, but it was still very nice. They roast on the light side, which works well for this coffee. It is very full bodied for a medium roast; earthy but not acidic. The price is excellent, and you can't beat the shipping charges! As soon as I saw that Amazon will now ship here, I subscribed. Now I do not have to hope for a courrier (visiting friends or family) to bring me the coffee I love. We fairly shocked our daughter by consuming the 5 lb. bag during her 3 week vacation. That said, I did not have any issues with the flavor degrading. It looks like Amazon and coffee bean direct stock all my favorite beans. now I just have to figure out how to set up the subscription so that I can rotate through my favorites without having to store 50 lbs of coffee ;)

No elderberry taste or aroma. I can't even tell if this is Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. It is a smooth bodied espresso, just not that good.

Price is good, but the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe lacked the classic berry notes that it should have. The flavor was clean, but not what it should be. Roasted too much. It was medium, not light.
