Root terminator is simply outstanding!
Excellent piece of equipment!! The digability of this tool is astronomical!!! It slices through roots like a saw and out comes your problem child with ease. Grip of terminator shovel is 5 stars. Design and quality is also a 5 star reward. Because of ruggedness conditions it went through, durability of mr. root terminator passed with flying colors. 5 stars! In my stand point, value for the money for this thing's capabilities is outstanding.

It’s good for digging out small stumps
The shovel works well for uprooting small stumps and shrubbery. The serrated edge can hack through most smaller roots, speeding up the process. You might still need a clipper or saw on the roots that are over 1/2” or so. Also the shovel is not made of adamantium. Don’t use it as a pry bar, it is a small shovel and can deform if abused. Use it for digging around the roots.

Good Shovel - Works Well
Some plant removal requires more than a regular shovel. This shovel works well on fibrous, tuberous rooted plants. For us, it helped in the removal of foxtail ferns. The only suggestion I can think of to improve the tool would be if the ledge you step/push on to push it into the plant's root system was a little bit larger (I have average size feet). It was a bit pricey, but we have enough use for it so for us it was worth it. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 star instead of a 5 star is due to the foot ledge and the price. We like this shovel.

Good digging tool for gardens od metal detecting!
Sharp tool for severing roots and root balls in tight gardens or other areas. I used it for digging in metal detecting with great results. Not ultralight, but made to last and comfortable to use.

Use in combination with a digging bar
I'm upgrading my rating:). I have a number of 30 year old cypress bushes that I removed yesterday. I started on root removal yesterday. The Root Assassin actually works well, BUT in combination with other tools that syou should have, including a pick and a digging bar (described later). The root assassin is sharp and has a 2 inch flat tip that works well for going under roots and helping to wedge them out. If you have a deep embedded root and can clear enough dirt then use a small chain saw or the digging bar with a point to pierce the root. ... I'm in the process of digging up my front yard and planting at least 50 bushes and trees. This sharp-pointed shovel really does not work for any root thicker than perhaps 1/16th of an inch, and really is not the solution for true root-impacted dirt. Instead, 2 weeks ago, I hired actual pro gardeners who dug holes in root-infested dirt to plant large trees. They used something I had never seen before and it worked so well I ordered it recently from Amazon, though I have not yet had an opportunity to try it myself...the Bon Tool RiverWorks 27-198 72-Inch Pencil Point San Angelo Digging Bar. I recommend the longer bar because it is heavier and creates more force. The guys would take this object, that looks like a spear and drive it into the dirt. Because it is so narrow, it easily breaks up the dirt and is used in conjunction with a pick ax. The bar widens the hole as well and the crowbar end easily breaks up and tears thick roots because of the leveraging effect since the bar is so long. This is a heavy steel shaft that drives down into the dirt with a sharp point on one end and a crow bar end on the other end (go to the product as listed here in amazon for an actual picture of the bar. Again, the root assassin is ok.

Best shovel ever!
This is my go-to shovel. It has sharp jagged edges to cut through the hard ground. I'm 74 and it is easy to handle and light weight. I'm also short but it isn't too big for me. I use it for everything from digging post holes to planting rose bushes. I'm in the mountains of Colorado and also have a lot of moles in my yard. It works great to dig into their tunnels. Also good for breaking up roots from oak trees. It's a work horse!

Works great for a variety of things
I'm 5'6" and the handle on this product hits me right at my waste which is perfect for getting power into the dirt and roots. *We have had a lot of rain, so soil is soft* But the teeth on each side along with the head was impressive When I first broke dirt with this I wasn't expecting the response. It TORE right through the dirt and demolished smaller roots around the root I was going after. The bigger root was over 1" thick and is an actual vine that are a bit harder to get a bite on. I was able to easily get it pulled out in a matter of minutes. I'm really impressed at the way this thing just tore through the dirt, rock and made it easy to lift the entirely of the root/vine in one go. I was then able to just lob off what was pulled up with some pruners. Highly recommend this line. They have SEVERAL different sizes and types to choose from, so make sure to check them out.

Imprescindible en un jardín.
Ideal para quien tenga jardín. Yo la uso para limpiar las raíces de laurel en unos al peques, y es genial. Antes de tener la pala me costaba muchísimo más la limpieza. Un descubrimiento.

Wish I had found this years ago!
OK, let's try it out. Dense hedge of black bamboo. I want to take a piece out to plant in my son's garden. (I did try this years ago and gave it up as impossible; the roots were just too dense and I couldn't separate a clump - I couldn't get under the roots without removing decking.) Pushed the shovel in to make a circle the size of the pot I was going to use - lovely crunchy sound as the shovel cut through the roots like butter. Tried levering the clump with the shovel but nothing happened (seeing the number of bent shovels in other reviews I'm glad I didn't exert more pressure). Pushed a fork in the side of the clump, pushed down, bit of effort needed, but out it popped and went straight into the waiting flower pot. Roots were about 40 cm deep and I would suggest making sure they are all cut before trying to remove. So that was my first try and it worked like a charm. I love herbaceous plants and have always had them in my garden. After a few years they form dense clumps which I have had to dig up and split using two forks - very heavy work if the clumps are mature, weighing 20kg or more. I haven't used it on herbaceous plants yet but after my success with the bamboo, I think it will be a piece of cake to remove the tired old centre of these plants or dig out manageable clumps to replant. We have just been removing tired old shrubs and great clumps of herbaceous plants from the garden in my son's new home, so, as I said, I wish I had found this tool years ago; things would have been much easier. I am very pleased with this root assassin (love the name!) and look forward to it making maintaining my garden easier in the future.
