Much better
My 10 year old son plays the sax and I no nothing about them. This is his first year and the music store stared him with #2.5's and did not tell us or suggest to us to change his reed often. But I did some reading and found that you should change them often and that they don't cost much at all so it is cheap enuff to do so. And I red that a #2 reed is better for a beginner. The lower the number, the easier, the higher the number, the more advanced you should be and the higher numbers sound better, but are harder to play. My son does like the #2 reeds better than #2.5'5 and in his opinion and mine, he sounds much better and in return has more confidence in himself now and is advancing much fast. So in my opinion there are cheap enuff to change to a new reed regularly and the lower the number the easier for the beginner!! My son gives them to thumbs up. I will buy the 10 pack for now on being that if they are a better price per reed. I bought the 3 pack to make sure he did like them and that they helped him improve, they did!

Pretty easy to use
Read quality is good for the price. Bought these because I started playing the saxophone again after not playing for a few years and a size three vandorn read was too strong. These helped me ease back into the saxophone and practice a bit before going back to a size three reed. Would definitely recommend for new players or players that took a long break from saxophone. Overall good reeds and you can’t beat the price

Easy to use for my son. It fit his alto sax to play in his music class.

Good quality for reed players on a budget
I bought the wrong strength, however I bought these with the 3 strength and they worked out fine, they respond well. They are cheaper in the 3 pack and I tried them because of that. They do not last as long as Van Doren ZZ's in my opinion however.

Reeds for saxophone
My son started playing the saxophone and these came just in time. They work great. He never played the sax before but was playing ‘Careless Whisper’ after about two hours of practicing.

Haven't played in a while, needed to start easy
When I was playing regularly 30 years ago, I was just starting to graduate to a 3. After a 30 year layoff, I could never break in a 2.5, but the 2 is perfect so far.

Worth the little extra over the standard Rico Orange. Our daughter just started playing Alto Sax. I started playing Tenor in 1974. In 1976 when i was forced to change my reed brand from Roy Maier, I realized there was a difference in brands and types of reeds. I started my daughter with a barrage of different brands and cuts which might have been a little overwhelming at first. As she sorts out what works best for her, the reeds in the blue package are on her SHORT list of favorites
