Orange with Vitamin C 100mg 36 Lozenges by Strepsils

I bought these for the first time in an airport pharmacy in Portugal when I came down with a bad cold on vacation. They were delicious and really soothing. Now I've learned that the antiseptic in them is really effective... many times I have thought maybe I was coming down with a sore throat, had a couple of these, and then not gotten sick. I am not suggesting they cure every sore throat or cold. But I am saying they are delicious, come in an easy to open blister pack that you can easily take anywhere, relieve a sore throat, and, in my experience, maybe help stop a cold from getting worse. Maybe. Sadly, they are not a great value only because they are so expensive in the US and hard to get. I get them here when I can, and sometimes I order from a pharmacy in Australia. That's how much I like them. But because they are so expensive I've given the entire house a lecture on when to use them... only when you think you are coming down with something or are truly sick. To me, while they are delicious and the perfect strength for every day use, they are too expensive to use for just a dry throat, allergy relief, or a tickle. I buy cheap brands for that. We reserve these for "I feel a cold coming on" or "I wonder if this sore throat is a real illness".

The only lozenges that don’t burn my tongue and actually work. Actually tastes like orange and isn’t overwhelming. Doesn’t leave a strong aftertaste.

While vacationing in New Zealand for a month I had the root of a tooth become inflamed. These lozenges helped the swelling and the pain. Upon returning to the states I learned that I needed a root canal. about a week later I started getting pain in the root of my tooth. I don't want to lose the tooth to extraction by the dentist. These were able to reduce the inflammation and the swelling and pain went away. I'm thinking the Amylmetacresol and dichlorobenzyl alcohol small molecule microbiocides are able to diffuse into the gum and fight off the root infection. Maybe I'll get lucky, avoid another trip to the endodontist and get to keep the tooth.
