Toysmith Ginormous Grow Dino Egg Toy

This was so fun for my 3 year old daughter. She loved watching it hatch. After it hatched we let it grow for a few days until it's tail started popping out of the t-rex. The only thing I didn't realize is as it dries it shrinks back to a small size. But we still love the item. I was worried because people were complaining about the shell being cracked but mine was fine and clumsy me dropped the thing on the floor after I opened the box but it still didn't break. Guess I got lucky.

My godson loved this gift. This one turned into a stegosaurus, but he's had other types of dinos hatch in other ones. I think it's supposed to be a surprise. The dino that hatched is a solid toy, so he's still able to play with it. I remembered ones where the thing that "hatched" was a spongy thing that wasn't any fun. This is better.

After reading reviews of other similar products, I was glad that this one didn't have a tiny dinosaur inside. The egg itself was about 5 inches long, and the dinosaur "grew" to about 8 inches long. As other reviewers have noted, the dinosaur doesn't hatch immediately, but the egg begins to crack after several hours and you can pull the dinosaur out after a day or so. You need to leave it in water so that it will keep expanding. One thing to be aware of is that the dinosaur shrinks back down to its original size as it dries out, so if you really want to have a full size dino, you'd probably have to soak it in water regularly. Not sure if that would be worth it. The fun is the hatching. It's kind of a boring dinosaur toy by itself.

My kids LOVED this. It took about 3 days to "hatch" and my kids watched intently for any / all progress. Some sort of glue product or something did not disolve off the back end of the dino and my kids (2,3 and 4) concluded that the Dino did not use the potty. It also shrinks back up somewhat after being out of water for days. Still an amazing expecience for my kids and us. Perfect for the price.

Awful!! Came broken took almost two weeks to expand. Once it did, it was too slimy to handle and hard pieces of the shell or manufacturing process had to be cut off of it after it expanded. And the paint job on it was terrible. Parts of the "skin" were already sloughing off of it like it was diseased. Bad product!!

I bought this Dino egg as a stocking stuffer for my son. Sadly when we received it, it was already cracked. We went ahead and kept it as I didn't have time to get a new one when I discovered the issue. We placed it in water on Christmas and waited for the dinosaur to hatch and then grow. I think it took about a week in total. My son was pretty excited about the dinosaur hatching. He played with it for a while after it was done growing before he lost interest. The dinosaur did shrink a bit after being out of the water. I didn't try to resubmerge to see if it would grow again. I may buy again when my younger son is old enough to understand and enjoy.

You need a really big container (think a large tall clear glass flower vase) but his dino was super fun to watch hatch from it's egg. My husband and 18 month old had a ball checking on it every day. We didn't keep it afterwards so I don't know how it holds up but it is dramatic to watch hatch. A good Easter gift too!

Cute but my 4 year old had to wait to watch it hatch so that was very hard for him since it took about 2 days. But it hatched as expected.
