EGO Power Plus Build Your Own Multi-Head Tool System Kit

This initial review covers the battery, pole assembly, and cultivator attachment. This is a surprisingly powerful tiller combo. I have a large gasoline-powered Craftsman tiller as well, so I don't intend to use the EGo for busting new ground. In my raised beds and existing gardens, it efficiently churns soil and allows me to fold in amendments and small surface litter quickly. I do not use it to chop/consume existing plants, but I suspect it would do so. The tiller works very well when pulled toward you. When pushed, it does not dig in as deeply, so it's a nice way to control the depth of tillage. The powerhead has two speeds, but the slower setting is more than enough for the tiller attachment. The battery probably lasts longer than I would carry this around in a single session. I am 6'3", and I am delighted that the adjustable shaft is long enough to be comfortable in use. With the tiller attached and the standard EGO 5 Ah battery, the tiller's balance is a little nose-heavy, which works well for tilling. That said, all up it is a reasonably heavy unit and is not as nimble as the system is when used with just the string-trimmer attachment. The most fun I have had with it thus far has been prepping seed beds and folding in fertilizer: It was fast, churned up the soil, and allowed me to come back with a rake to tap down the soil, lay in the seeds, and cover. At the higher speeds, it tends to throw small rocks (but nowhere near as far or as fast as the string trimmer attachment). I am not super coordinated with my right hand, but I found it easy to use, easy to adjust speeds, and easy stay safe.

I purchased the weed eater and the hedge trimmer. I haven't used the hedge trimmer yet, but I am sure it will be great like all other EGO products. I've been using Ryobi 40 volt outdoor equipment for over 5 years. They work good, but EGO works great. I started with the EGO 18" chainsaw, then the leaf blower and now this. The product is pricey, but the quality is great. The weed eater head profile is flatter than Ryobi's and therefore you get a closer to the ground cut when moving the head parallel to the ground. Like the other EGO products I have bought, they are all more powerful thus reducing the overall time required to finish a task. If you can afford EGO, then I highly recommend them.

Absolutely love the build it yourself package. Love not getting a bunch of extras I don't need. My absolute favorite brand. Do research regularly to make sure nothing better has come out. I have a large amount of these products. Easy to use. Quick to charge. A bit heavy but its a tool its supposed to be. Great all around

Great product, assembly is a bit difficult from the prospective. You have to push on handle with some force, and you feel like you might break it, but you won't shaft is carbon fiber and hard plastic is more flexible than you would imagine but there is no warning to help you to understand this. Documentation should suggest some things, that it doesn't but overall great product.

I replaced a gas powered blower and a gas powered weed trimmer with these. I have enjoyed not having to replace a carburetor, or having to play with the choke on my gas stuff. The Ego items I added have been a real joy…. Pick it up, pull the trigger and go. Quieter (in general), plenty of battery life to get my jobs done, and pretty much maintenance free. After a full season of work in my yard, I’ll say that my EGO mower, trimmer, and blower have been great. Buy with confidence!

Let me first say I do like EGO products, I have the chainsaw and hedge trimmer and both work great. There is some economy of scale with these things so thought I would go all-in and get the multi-head system as a bundle next. The package showed up and I first used the bristle broom one time on asphalt driveway. At the end of 10 minutes, the power head stopped. Limited options so I changed battery, no go. Charged the first battery, no go. Both batteries worked in my other EGO tools. It clicked in fine, never even lit with trigger pulled. I think this was a rare early fail scenario as I've had good luck with the other items, but I was just about to find the real surprise out next on the return. Classic Amazon, you can't just ask someone out how to do a exchange like this so it turned into being a battle to just get the return accepted. I then found out Amazon expected customer to pay for return shipping on the whole giant box even though I just wanted a new power head?! This was not a very good deal. I suspect this is rare situation but you have to know what the return situation is before buying large items on Amazon. If you have an issue with one part of the bundle, you could wind up paying hundreds for return ship.
