The X3000R is an incredible Action Camera! I tried the GoPro Hero 5 for a week, and literally the only advantage of that camera is the easy built in touch screen! Otherwise, it was complete crap when it comes to video, audio, and stabilization. I've always been a Sony guy, and also own the Sony AX100, AX53, AND RX100V cameras. The video quality on this Action Cam is very close to what you find on the larger AX53, considering they have similar sensors. The 4K daylight footage is absolutely incredible. So sharp & detailed, both in 60mbps and 100Mbps. Wonderful color, and the very wide angle lens is fantastic! No "fish eye" distortion you get with GoPro. Also, the Balanced Optical Steady Shot is a dream. I can't believe they were able to fit it into such a tiny package! We just used the camera for a whole day at Disney, and it looked like it was on at gimbal the whole time! The sound quality is fantastic as well. Low light footage isn't as incredible. Good, but not amazing. It gets very smeared & grainy & doesn't look like 4K anymore. However, what's fantastic is that it's still VERY usable! It's probably the best low light footage you'll get in an action can. The GoPro Hero 5 couldn't see ANYTHING in low light. This X3000, while very grainy, still has fantastic colors and visibility in low light! If you play around with it in an editor, you can have some very clean and usable footage! I'm very impressed. The only things I'm not super impressed with is the camera battery life (which is ok, but not a deal breaker because I have a ton of batteries for it. You HAVE to stock up!) as well as the Live View Remote, which came bundled since I got the "X3000R". It's water resistant and good quality, but I wish it had a speaker for playing back the video's audio. Also, it takes FOREVER to connect to the camera, and when it IS connected, it's very glitchy and drops the connection a lot, even when the camera is a centimeter away. It's a great idea to have it, but it's still a generation away from being good. It's underdeveloped. Overall though, I'm beyond impressed with this camera, and can't wait to use it daily!

Excellent camera. I have been researching action cameras for a while and even though this camera is pricey, (IMO) it is worth it. My primary purpose for this camera is to record my mountain and road biking adventures so an image stabilization was important to me. Also, I really wanted to record in 4K, which this camera offers. Sure you will find other cameras with close specifications, but if you are looking for an image stabilization, then this is your solution. Note: since I'm on the trail for hours, the batteries can drain fast, but you can extend their charge by turning off nonessentials (i.e. GPS, Recording Lights, etc.). Batteries are not expensive and you can find plenty of "2x batteries + charger" combos (which I also have purchased, link below).This particular camera combo comes with a bunch of stuff and since there are several of camera combos, I was very careful to select the combo with items I will actually use and their quality. Upon receiving my package, I have carefully checked every item and this combo is solid: aside from Vidoe Software CD (which I had no plans to use anyway) all (except the extra battery) of the components are great. The additional battery provided in this combo, did charge but could not hold the charge and would be dead in the morning. I did contact the seller and was told that the replacement will be shipped at no charge and that I can discard the "bad" battery. I have recycled the battery two weeks from writing this review, but have not received the replacement. Aside from above, I fully recommend FDR-3000R if you want a great image, stabilization, and quality. A nice assortment of the items I needed to use the camera for skiing. The only items missing were the lens protector and the Sony helmet kit that I ordered separately. You could use the waterproof case, but it blocks the microphone and it's also heavier, which is the down side to this camera. I ski in the woods and didn't want something mounted on the top of my helmet, which made the included Vivitar helmet kit inappropriate. I wanted to mount it to the band of my goggles on the side at the same height as my view. The Sony mounting gear and camera are heavier than I thought, so it's turned in to a science experiment to make it work. I'm going through a bit of double sided tape and Velcro at this point. Having the wrist mounted remote is great. You can see everything in real time and have total control of the camera. Nice system and Cameta shipped in good time with all items as advertised.

Difficult instructions, most of the time does not connect to screen, and when it does I could not see the images while I’m recording due to screen to too small for my vision. So much money, I did not even use it on my trip.

I got this with the remote viewer and the Luxebelle accessories kit. Haven't tried 4k yet, everything in 1080 at 30 and 60fps. Superb results from the optical stabilization. Video quality in Vivid mode is very good right off the card without any post-processing. I like the ability to change field of view settings to wide, medium or narrow with no seeming loss of quality. Good sound in windy situations using a Micover furry windscreen over the microphone holes - the internal setting for the windnoise filter is just a low freq cut so the Micover works well while keeping the fidelity. The finger grip with the LiveRemote mounted works out well to use the unit as a regular videocamera. I also reallly like the chest harness mount from the Luxebelle kit. Very pleased with this my first purchase of an action camera - a big thanks to all the reviewers here and elsewhere for their informative reviews.
