The best!!!
There are two Speedball items in my photo and I have the same to say about both so Iโm using the same review for both. This is the best metal leaf sealer, and adhesive size that I have ever used. Everything about them was absolutely perfect. So far Iโve used them on leather, wood, and seashells, and the results have been equally perfect. The adhesive size was very tacky, applied smoothly, dried quickly and evenly, and produced spectacular results. The sealer did the same; looked great, applied smooth and evenly, and dried fast. The inside lid and the rim of the adhesive are starting to get a cakey buildup of product now that I am halfway through the bottle so Iโm going to have to clean it out to make sure it screws on properly, but that just proves that itโs an excellent product because it has superior stickiness and therefore, adhesion. Extremely pleased with these products

Good basic adhesive for metal leaf
I was new to imitation gold leaf gilding and this adhesive worked very well. Application with a proper brush was very easy. It goes on a little whitish in color and dries clear, you must let it get tacky before applying the gold foil. It's not easy but it's not difficult either, it does take some practice to get it right. Once the gold is on and smooth, its appearance looks like real gold, it's beautiful.

You need this with metallic Foil
This worked great. I never needed to wait 30 minutes for it to turn clear. I suggest practicing on something less important first. I watched many YouTube videos and people used tweezers , thus tearing the foil up to the put on large spaces. Drop the tweezers. Put the Mona Lisa Sizing on your item and set aside. If your foil is inside paper holders , lay out the amount you think youโll need with the flimsier side of paper facing upwards. Now carefully fold the protective paper back half way and crease to keep open. Do this for several or all of your planned foil pieces. When the sizing turns clear, carefully pick up a foil โholder and have the side thatโs half exposed facing outwards. Apply that edge to your item to be gilded. Then you can tilt item and move hand releasing the rest of the foil. Use smooth paper to slide over foil to smooth. You may want more area exposed at the beginning. It will definitely look better than if done with tweezers in small bits. Also buy the Speedball Varnish to seal your work after the glue has completely dried. Itโs an important step and dries quickly.

Works well, but drying time is undefined
It works well but the drying time is not well defined. I never needed to wait a full half hour as the label suggests. I recommend that they add an ingredient that changes the color of the glue when it is tacky enough for use. If it is used too early, it will adhere as it dries but flakes with glue may float off and adhere to other things. If too late, it won't stick evenly and you will have to reapply leaf over it to fill the gaps.

Great for everything
Iโve used this for many things already and I love it. It rubs off if you mess up. If you let it dry all the way it has very strong adhesion for the type of glue it is. It will work for gold leaf obviously, but itโll work for leather straps being kept in place on a chest or for reapplying old stickers or making your own window stickers! I love this stuff and a little goes a long way! Stir it first!

Not for all surfaces
It's ok if you know what you're doing. You have to pay close attention to the drying time because it does depend on the room temperature. I had a problem getting it dry completely. There were some places on the item I was using it on that are still a little tacky after a week. The main issue I have with it is that it doesn't work on some surfaces.

Excellent sizer when used with natural bristle brush
Excellent sizer when used with natural bristle brush, its water based so it takes really 24 hours to really dry. Use natural bristle brush for carved surface or canvas, on other plain walls pop after base coat use with cotton cloth or use spray version
