Dishwasher drain now water-tight - after starting with a new, supple rubber connection
Am using to replace an older connector for dishwasher draining into the insinkerator. Naturally, the old disposal died and the dishwasher's drain line never quite fit the new disposal right (rubber end had hardened into shape of old disposal) and so there was a persistent minor leak. Being able to cut off the older dishwasher drain line rubber end and use this new, soft rubber kit to reconnect the corrugated plastic drain and the new disposal fixed that leak. Only negative is that the instructions are overly simplified ikea-like pictures and most of the word-based instructions are concerning preparing the insinkerator with very little description of how the fit is supposed to work. A sharp carpet knife or kitchen shears allows you to cut off the excess smaller diameter rubber opening. The tapering between the different sized openings is a little tricky to cut and remove. The plastic drain hose gets pushed inside the rubber connector and the spring-clip squeezes the rubber tight onto the drain hose. The screw-drive hose clamp then secures the whole thing to the plastic inlet of the disposal (remember to pop out the molded plastic bit in that drain if it's a new disposal/new hookup).

If You Need One, it's Probably Best to Get a Good One
How's your garbage disposal doing? Well, mine died at thanksgiving! Amazon to the rescue. Locally it was going to cost $600.00 to have a new one installed so I thought I would try doing it myself. It was actually a piece of cake. Amazon takes the time to make suggestions as to what extra parts will be needed when doing a DIY. This item was better than expected. It came with extra parts so no matter what kind of application, there was a good chance you won't need an extra trip to the hardware store on install day. Conclusion, I put the disposal in myself with all Amazon parts, took about two hours and was just over $100.00...WOW!
