Inclusive Leadership, Global Impact provides a welcome guide for leaders who seek to make real progress with inclusion because they see it as both the right thing to do and also as good for their business. This approach, now in use by many companies around the world, is based on the authorsโ combined experience of more than fifty years working with corporate audiences and applying academic research. Its approach is: Practical: Readers learn how to move from knowledge about unconscious bias and even โbias fatigueโ to everyday inclusive actions, and from better interpersonal relationships with other team members to more innovative teamwork and broader organizational initiatives. Global: An ironic flaw of many approaches to diversity, equity, and inclusion is that they impose on other countries models and terminology based on a particular set of historical and cultural experiences. Drawing upon examples from several world regions, including the Global South, this book provides a framework that embraces local knowledge for understanding and addressing the various ways that marginalization occurs. Timely: The book outlines major trends in the current inclusion landscape, with advice not only about risk mitigation and competitive advantage but also how organizations can enhance their commitment to equity in response to the Black Lives Matter movement and the concerns of other marginalized groups. Accessible: There are actions that each person can take to support inclusion. Rather than advocating methods that involve โblaming and shaming,โ the authors outline how to build broad voluntary participation, create psychological safety, and evoke empathy in ways that support sustained employee engagement. Systemic: Individual actions are important but insufficient. The five organizational levers for greater inclusivity described in this book have been borne out by decades of research and practical experience; leaders who learn how to evaluate their current systems and use these levers will be better equipped to drive real change with measurable outcomes. Leaders at various levels, whether they are working with a diverse domestic team or with colleagues based in different countries, will find relatable examples, anecdotes, advice, and useful recommendations for converting positive intentions into effective action steps. The authors demonstrate how global inclusion initiatives can be combined with local insights to develop, retain, and engage valuable employees, mitigate a range of legal and other risks, and position organizations for a new wave of innovation and growth propelled by a truly inclusive work environment. Highly relevant, strong global focus, a must read for leaders to put inclusion into practice
This is an excellent book, highly practical, full of real examples and anecdotes, and a clear presentation of how to develop as an inclusive leader. Too much is written on this topic that too โlocalโ. This book is different as the authors take us across world regions and explore important - and extremely current topics - such as race, ethnicity, bias, and inclusion in the context of how to improve employee and team performance in different regions. What seems to be challenging is dealt with in a way that is both solution- based, practical, and insightful. This book is a must read for leaders willing to take initiatives to engage and retain employees within their organizations. The hands-on experience of the authors shines through.

Invaluable Resource
As a newcomer to the world of DEI work, this book as been an invaluable resource. I read this book with a few coworkers as part of an informal book club, and it has not only prompted my own internal reflection on what I can do to help create an inclusive workplace, but it has also sparked a dialogue about DEI initiatives and inclusive leadership at our organization. I cannot recommend this book enough to those who seek to gain the practical knowledge and insight to foster everyday inclusion at the organization.

Second edition is a great tool for practice or instruction
I enjoy using this book for teaching and training. There are so many valuable tools in the IDEA space; this book is one of those tools because of the consistency with trends, writing about the scholarship, and providing ideas and strategies for being more inclusive. The book provides tips and activities for deepening the learning for students (undergrad and grad), a thorough explanation of the five stages, uses a global perspective to match the global workforce, and great stories for discussion in class. This is a must-have for anyone working in business or education seeking to have a global impact.

Concrete, actionable steps
I read this book as part of a book club at work. We've been talking about global rollouts and local execution of our DEI initiatives quite a bit over the last few years at our organization, but this book was one of the first I've read that truly breaks down the complexities into concrete, actionable steps. We can all do better to make our workplaces more inclusive - this book was a nice way for me to (re) jumpstart my own personal inclusion journey.

Global D&I with a healthy dose of humor
This is an excellent contribution to the literature on leadership. It provides concrete, research-backed guidance and examples as well an awareness that diversity factors vary significantly from culture to culture. Thus sharpens the reader's perceptions and awareness to be an effective leader in organizations globally. The book is accessible to the uninitiated but just as relevant and interesting to those already steeped in the diversity & inclusion field. And last but not least, the authors are seriously witty. Definitely Five Stars!

Helpful resource for Global DEI

I appreciated the emphasis of the importance of cultural perspective in developing global inclusion initiatives. This book offers compelling data, research, and examples that back the empathy-driven points being made, and is a helpful resource for DEI work and inclusive leadership in our modern world.

Highly recommended practical read
This is probably the most comprehensive and practical book on inclusive leadership that I've read in a while. As someone based in Asia, the examples/storytelling and sharing of strategies certainly echoes the realities of Asia and is all inclusive in the true spirit of the title. The book moves between business, politics and organizational policies in a highly sensitive way. I'd recommend this to anyone, not necessarily just HR or DEI professionals.

Inclusive Leadership Global Impact
I really appreciate this book due to the fact that it has a global perspective. . Many of the books related to I&D are geared towards US audiences, but this one is dfferent because of the global approach by way of examples, and examination. It is a valued addition to our company library.
