It's not very heavy at all. Not hard to handle and the brushes fit the shape of the tub. But you still have to scrub hard to get it clean, or else my tub is a lost cause.

What type of safe soap can be used?

Lysol Bathroom cleaner, Mr. Clean, any bathroom cleaner which you use on tubs also the same can to be used on shower walls. I haven't used a bar soap.

Will this work for baseboards?

Yes, this Shower Scrubber and Cleaning Brush will work for cleaning baseboards and for any cleaning near the floor, which saves me from bending down. It is a great tool for all of us as we age or face knee or back problems. It is easy to clean my bath tub and shower now and even the floor.

Will this scratch plastic shower pan insert?

Hi, I use the brush for the ceramic tile squares that cover the floor of my shower, and the pad for the plastic walls. It works well, no scratches. Easy on my back. I hope this helps.
