Solves the problem of buttering a hot ear of corn.
This corn butter spreader works exactly as described and solves the problem of keeping butter on top of the cob long enough to melt on. My husband especially loves it. The spreader accepts about half of a stick of butter and with the included lid can be stored in the 'fridge between uses. The only down side is that the spreader needs to be room temperature or the butter won't advance down the tube. I have arthritic hands so I can't push the butter down on a good day, but my husband can and does. Just make sure it is out of the 'fridge for a while and at room temp before you try to use it. I also find that this uses up less butter than adding butter by knofe, fork or spoon, and the corn is more evenly buttered.

If you love corn on the cob-this is for you!
I ordered this after using it at my daughters cook out. it's about time someone invented something so practicable. It takes you only seconds to butter your corn, your plate is not loaded with wasted butter, and more comments were made at the cookout about this butter spreader than anything else. The only downside- it was a very warm day, 90 degrees plus, and the butter was melting quickly, causing it to fall out of the holder. Then it took your fingers to but the butter back in. (this was a family cookout, forgiven fingers) But money well spent!

It's OK
I've been using it for a little while now. I just finished up a half-stick. The best thing about it is that it does spread butter on the ear of corn. It's also not super flimsy like somebody mentioned in the Q&A. There are some caveats that I noticed. As it takes only a half stick, you'll have to cut a stick in half if you can't buy them in half sticks already. Second, some sticks are a tad larger than the hole. In that case, it tends to shave on top, so it could get messy. Third, the half stick doesn't go all the way in; there's about 1/8 to 1/4" sticking out the top. Since you have to push down on the plastic plunger to force the butter out the other end, it could be problematic in the beginning. Fourth, I found I have to take this out of the fridge a little early, so the butter has a chance to melt a bit and not stick to the sides of the item. Fifth, when the stick gets near the end, it's hard to push down on the plunger with your fingers. I had to find a sturdy stick (I used the handle end of a small hammer) to push down on it. To use, you push down on the plunger to force a bit of butter out the application end, which is shaped to fit the ear of corn. After that bit is used up, you need to press down again to push more out. Repeat as necessary. Is it faster than rolling/brushing on melted butter or just rolling it on a stick in a tray? No, but it's less wasteful. Also note that if you try to use it when there's no butter coming out the application end, the plastic could gouge the kernals. You can feel it scraping them. Finally, note that I mentioned that sometimes butter is shaved off the sides as it's inserted into the item. That could cause a mess, and in the end, you might want to wash it. But if you're in the middle of a meal, now what? Perhaps buying a spare would work.

Love it! Works Pretty Well!
This works pretty well. I buy butter by the half sticks so it works out perfectly that one half stick fits in it very nicely. The square size of the stick of butter doesn't really line up with the opening (the opening is a bit wider) but it still does the job. Its easy to push more butter out (even cold butter right out the fridge) and spread on a hot ear of corn. It does help to do it right off the grill or out of the pot, otherwise if the corn is too cold it won't really rub on well. This is the perfect purchase though because we salt & pepper our ears of corn and I don't like mixing pepper chunks into my butter that I may be using on something else! So by having this separate in the fridge, it doesn't matter what corn pieces touch the butter because it's designated for corn.
