Did the formula for this mix change?
I've been happy in the past with this seed-starting mix, but the bag I purchased from Amazon this year seems...different. I just planted a seed plug tray, half with the last of my 2021 bag (also ordered from Amazon), and half with the bag I just received. That made it easy to do a side-by-side comparison. First, there's a lot more perlite in the newer mix. Second, the newer mix is a paler brown and seems far lighter in weight and much fluffier in texture. Third, the newer mix is VERY slow to absorb water - in fact, it seemed almost water-resistant. When I tried to plant, the dampened mix actually stuck to my tools and fingers, which made it tough to cover the seeds I'd just placed in the soil. I'm hoping this is an aberration, since I bought two bags of the stuff this year. I'm interested to see if there will be any difference in how the seeds in that tray germinate. I'll update later. UPDATE: Everything germinated just fine. I've learned that it's more effective to wet the soil after planting, rather than before. Adding a star back.

Organic fine starting mix that works very well.
This is great for seed starting, and organic! no clumps, no pieces of wood of anything, just good soiless mix with perlite. My seedlings did very well in this, I'll buy it again.

My kale and chard at 4wks. This seeding starting mix is amazing! Soil was nice and moist, I didn't even need to water the soil before planting my seeds. The bag has a zip lock so it's easy store. First time gardener btw! So happy with my purchase!

The seller was great but the product itself is not what I was hoping for. Good ingredients/composition but very water repellant, difficult to work with and I did not enjoy the overly large chunks of wood/debris I had to sift out. I wouldn’t purchase again.
