It's more than safe unless you're in some king of race in overdrive. I'm six four and can work standing at full extension and the lower you go the less things wand to spring around or move. Even if it does you can quite likely win the race if you are in one. Hey, they really know how to make a great grinder and don't think they're guessing at making something to mount it to and make it so great for being portable and quick to set up and use. Review: Very sturdy for it's size - I was really surprised at how sturdy this stand really is. There is no shaking or leaning away from you, it stays solid when you are sharpening. But, I wish the designer would have put a fastener or some sort on the three legs, so when you go to set the machine to a resting spot, the legs wouldn't fall down. The way it came is, if you lift it up the three legs drop strait down. So, i used electrical tape and secured them so when I'm using it I left it away from the wall and when finished I left it back, and the legs stay in the out-stretched position.
