As a newcomer to pizza ovens the tools of the trade were a bit of a mystery having been used to a standard oven and a pizza stone and oven gloves. The heat in a conventional oven, particularly with fan assist, is reasonably even. In a pizza oven that is not the case, the side of the pizza nearest the heat source tends to cook the fastest, so you need to turn the pizza to balance things up. A normal peel is great for sliding a pizza in or out but the width of most domestic pizza ovens restricts being able to slide under an edge and pull the pizza around, so the only way you can turn is to pull the pizza out and turn by hand, and pizzas are pretty hot straight from the oven. The turning peel means you can catch one side pull the pizza round in situ and this smaller peel is long enough to avoid hands being scorched when in use, is light, sturdy and easy to assemble and, if needed, take apart for storage for winter or whatever.. I haven’t used it enough to see if the nuts become loose as some reviews have mentioned and I have oiled the wood to give it a little protection – not strictly necessary, but I had the oils for woodworking jobs so used them. Early impressions are it works well, it is easy to clean, not that it gets involved in anything particularly messy, and is non-stick, although by the time it is needed the pizza base is already pretty well sealed. It is a lot cheaper than similar products from named pizza oven brands and is so simple and basic it should last for ever. For the price you can hardly go wrong.

A good little turning peel, ideal for occasional home Ooni users. Loses a star as is a little cheap in construction and the screws between handle and the metal element do come loose, but it does the job just fine.

I could not justify the price of a genuine Ooni Pizza Peel so I took a chance on this one. 9 months and dozens of pizzas later it still looks like new. I did give the handle a couple of coats of matt varnish to stop the wood staining during use. This has improved the pizzas made in my Ooni Karu12G oven as it is so easy to turn the Pizza to avoid burning. I'm very pleased with this Pizza Peel

It's a great size for a turning peel. Been using it with my new Gozney oven, and it fits nicely and does what it needs to do. Cleaning it is relatively simple too, although if a rogue bit of sauce or cheese gets stuck to it, it does take a little more scrubbing than I'd have thought. Maybe a non-stick coating may help (or it could be a skill issue). The build quality is okay, the handle feels good in the hand, and like I said, the size of the peel is good. The only problem I've found is that the screws keep coming loose, meaning I need to tighten them every time. I think I may have to invest in a little bit of thread lock glue to get it solid. Overall I'm quite happy, I just wish the screws would lock in as expected.

In gebruik bij ooni pizza oven. Werkt perfect, formaat is goed, lengte van de steel ook. Heb hem nu een paar keer gebruikt en is al wat bekrast maar lijkt mij logische als je over je pizza steen heen schuift.
