Does the alarm stop on it's own or do you have to push a button to stop it?

You have to push a button to stop it.

how do you turn it off? mine wont turn off and I'm afraid it will eat the battery

It doesn't turn off. You'll have to take the battery out.

How do you program memory function?

When you put a time (i.e. 10 minutes on timer 2) and the timer goes off just press the number and stop. The next time you use timer 2, hit it twice and 10 minutes will come back up. As long as you don't hit the clear button when you press stop you can always press timer 2 and get 10 minutes. I found this by accident, I home this answers your question.

does it have any magnets inside? looking for timer that is okay around electronics as well.

I don't believe that it has any magnets inside. I works very well. I think it would be just fine around electronics. I am very pleased with this timer.
