I now have 3 of these receivers in service, and the performance on 978MHz is much better than the Nano 2 receivers I replaced. The Nano 2 is a decent enough performer, but the pre-amp plus bandpass filter included in the RadarBox receiver both boosts the available signal and excludes nearby interference. You will read complaints here and elsewhere that these units run HOT, and they do. So do the Nanos. But the same "fix" works for both - remove the plastic case, to allow better air circulation. My current working configuration places the RPi and both a FlightAware 1090 and RadarBox 978 receiver in a water-resistant box mounted directly below the antenna and powered via a PoE hat. Temperatures in the box have remained reasonable with outside temps from -10F through (so far) 97F, and both receivers continue to work just fine.

This sets up and works fine with the UAT Antenna. However depending on your location you may not have a ton of UAT traffic to report back on. However it works when there is something within range for me and is a good addition to the setup.

Used on a raspberry pi to monitor UAT 978 MHz in the area. Does work well but gets very hot. Considering removing the plastic cover and adding a fan nearby for cooling... reason for dropping one star. Electronics don't like heat!

This stick works, but good luck trying to get it to work with the software and in formation provided. I'm currently using this stick with FlightAware software to feed FlightAware with UAT data. Thats different from typical Mode S ADSB!

I purchased both AirNav RadarBox FlightSticks and PI box and then made my own antennas. They work great.
