Intimidated by "regular"messy paint sets and "one time use" paper books using water to activate, I decided to purchase a set of these reusable spiral bound paint-with-water BOARD BOOKS that utilize water filled "pen brushes" for young ones to create beautiful pictures. To me the REAL beauty is that they are not too messy, they can be used over and over, and the activity is pretty much self-contained (the pen-brush has a it's own storage space within the book when not in use). To use, simply fill the pen-brush reservoir with water, glide it over the picture, and watch it transform into a colorful picture. The pictures dry pretty quickly (sometimes too quickly if your child takes too much time painting), however if your little painter is overzealous with the water, it can "puddle" a bit. To facilitate painting multiple pictures in the same book, we place a half sheet of paper towel over each completed picture. That way... 1) The child can fold the spiral edged page back and proceed onto the next page without worry of "mess" created by overzealous flow of water during painting 2) The paper towel helps absorb excess water and facilitate quicker drying of page 3) The enhanced drying provided by the towels helps protect integrity of board pages which have a tendency to warp slightly when damp (they do return to normal when completely dry, though). We find on average, each page requires a minimum of about 30-60 mins drying time, therefore it serves us well to have a couple of books on hand to allow extended "paint time" activity and to allow ample time for the pages to completely dry out. My 4 year old grandson looks forward to "painting" during his weekly visits to my house. We have four of these books which we rotate to avoid "boredom" due to repetition and to allow extended paint time activity as he moves from one book to the next. He enjoys both the "picture" books as well as the numbers and alphabet books. It occupies him, stimulates, educates (numbers/alphabet), makes him feel productive, and in general is a fun and novel activity for him. And of course as a busy grandma, I totally appreciate the "non-messy" (non-permanent) aspect of this creative craft. Aug 2023 UPDATE: My grandsons are now 8 and 12 years old (my, how time flies!). For years, I have reserved a shelf for them in my sewing/craft room. where they can access their own supply of books and/or craft goods while visiting. Although NOW into more "techy" play gadgets, I am amazed that during their visits they BOTH STILL gravitate to these nifty little WATER ONLY paint books! These neat and "TIDY" little books WERE and still remain a GREAT purchase.

These water wow books are one of the best things we bring on trips with our toddler. She is endlessly entertained with painting them over and over, and we love that they’re totally mess-free. Great for quiet time and long airplane rides. Love that unlike the magic marker books, these water painting books are endlessly reusable, so a great value for price. Will keep buying more for trips.

My daughter received this product as a gift from one of my co-workers. At the time, my daughter was 18 months old. The product stayed on a bookshelf for a few weeks having not been opened at all. As our vacation time was approaching, I realized that I needed a few items with me in order to keep my little toddler busy on the 2.5 hour long flight to our vacation destination. About one hour into the flight, the little one decided that she had had enough of the stuffed toys, reading books, airplane photos etc.. I decided to open her Water Wow book. As I was in the middle of the flight, I decided to fill the water pen with bottled water, and gave the Water Wow to my daughter. She spent at least the next 30 minutes just opening and closing the front cover where the water pen was stored. She found it so amusing! She then began to color the pages, and all these vibrant animals, flowers, trees, landscapes came to life with each stroke! Not only was she so proud of herself with creating all that art, but I managed to turn it into an educational game since once the pages dried, I would ask her to color the ducks or the apples. It was also a great way to teach her new words and be able to provide visualization for her. I found the color book to come in handy as we sat in non-kid friendly restaurants on our vacation, and generally kept her content while my husband and I could enjoy a conversation that did not involve " no thank you" and "inside voice please". Shortly after we returned from our vacation, we had a visit from some dear friends who have 4 and 6 year olds. Being that my daughter's toys were too young for them, I was not quite sure how to entertain the pair of them. To my surprise, they were both competing to take turns to color in this book! This became such an ordeal each time they visited that I turned around and purchased this three pack so each one of them had their own (the third one was for my daughter- a replacement). She had used this color book so much to a point that the pictures began to take longer to appear. I feel that this product boosts a young one's confidence, and it is a great teaching and visualization tool in a fun way. Quite frankly, I found myself coloring in this book as well!

My toddler recently discovered markers, and every time we use them it’s followed by having to wash our hands, and often time clean marker up off the floor. These are so simple, good quality by a reputable brand, the colours are vibrant and most importantly my 2 year old loves them! (It does specify ages 3 and up). We have brought these to a restaurant as they were easy to pack up and bring and they worked great as a distraction. This is a great gift idea for toddlers or young kids! These offered great value for the price. Very happy with my purchase!

These books are fantastic to keep your little ones entertained, especially on long journeys.
