Just buy them, they are worth every penny
They look great and feel great, amazing for the price. Also, look for reviews on youtube, the goodyear welt is legit. They are comfortable and you wonโt feel like you have to break them in. The laces also feel of high quality and look pretty good in person. Pictures donโt do justice for these. They look better in person. Before I received them I worried that theyโd look too wide and goth like as Neo in the lobby matrix scene (I got the black boots) but no, they donโt look like goth/motorcycle boots. They look good with jeans and with casual clothes in general. If you wonder about quality, look up rose anvil golden fox on youtube, the dude chops them in half to see how theyโre made and is surprised at the good quality, he reviews the moctoe but itโs pretty much the same boot. Look person, I know why youโre thinking of buying these boots. You dream of the origins but theyโre too expensive, you went to youtube and everyone there mentions Thursday boots, you saw that those are 200 and you said hell naw. Just buy these. Theyโre quality leather, real goodyear welt, pig skin collar, they have a fluffy pad for foot arch and they have a steel shank.

Fantastic boots and incredible value.
Short version: 5 stars. Amazing boots. Extremely high quality. Very comfortable. Worth twice the price at least. Long review: I bought these as a replacement for a pair of Chippewa / J. Crew Service Boots in Sunset Renegade. I had wanted a pair of Goodyear Welted boots for a long time, but most of them are flatly out of my price range. I kept my eyes peeled for a pair of Red Wing Blacksmiths, Chippewa Service Boots or Wolverine 1000 miles or Kilometers on sale and eventually found a pair of BNIB Chippewa / J. Crews in my size on eBay and pulled the trigger. The leather on both boots suffered from horrible cracking from the moment I first put them on, but the right boot was the worse of the two and the cracking is absolutely atrocious. I know I gambled not buying them direct and got burned. Aside from the poor clicking, the quality control just was not up to par elsewhere either - there were several uneven stitches, one of the tongues was very crooked, things of that nature. Overall, the construction was not very precise. These Golden Fox Boondockers (Fudge) are absolutely amazing. They are both higher quality and better looking than the pictures online show. Pictures do not do them justice. The leather is GORGEOUS in person. It is a little thinner and softer than the leather on my Chip's, similar to the leather on my Wolverine Kilometers. All of the stitching and lines are precise and even. They are heavier than I was expecting but also much more comfortable. The insole is very comfortable. The outsole is very grippy and I've tried it so far on concrete with melting snow and bathroom tiles with water and haven't slipped or slid at all. These honestly blow my Chippewa Service Boots out of the water on almost every front. Golden Fox could be charging a lot more and I feel they would be justified. These boots are a good investment period, but they are an insane value at the price they are currently being sold at. I am not a fan of the thick, white, wedge type outsole, but if Golden Fox ever offers a Boondocker in black leather with this outsole I will be buying another pair immediately. Sizing: I am a 9.5 EE, so I went with a 9.5 because I really do need that width and these fit great. If you have narrow or even normal width feet I would probably advise going down a half size.

Solid comfortable boot. Would buy again.
I would give these 5 Stars if they weren't somewhat damaged right out of the box. Half inch razor blade cut on the side of the ankle that didn't go all the way through and a little too many scuffs for my liking on a brand new boot. But.... Pretty damn good boots! Full leather Construction and very comfortable right out of the box. After my first day wearing them today for at least 10+ miles (I'm a building engineer in New York City I do a lot of walking) I have no complaints at all. The bottoms are grippy even though they don't really have a heavy tread and they stiched it on with a "Goodyear welt" which is pretty much what you want in a boot. I was actually surprised to see a Goodyear welt on a boot this inexpensive, it's harder to manufacture and it takes a few steps but you end up with a better boot. Not a bad looking boot either, until I destroy them I'll be able to wear them out on the town as well as to work. My only complaint was that they had a few scuffs and what looked like a small razor blade cut on the outside right ankle. Considering I'm probably going to do as much damage to them in a week I can't really complain about that but if you're buying these boots for fashion I could see that being a problem, hence the four stars. I would order these again in a heartbeat though if they stay around the same price and hold up over time. I wear boots pretty often so keep an eye on the date of this review, if they're no good theyll fall apart quickly and I'll update the review. No news is good news in this case. As far as the size, a few reviews recommend ordering a half size down. I did this and although they are snug they aren't too tight. A full leather construction boot is also going to stretch a little bit and end up being more comfortable in my opinion. It's close enough to be a personal preference and not so much a problem but I think most people would be fine ordering your usual size, unless you also like a snug boot of course. If you have a really wide foot you might want to look for another boot all together, they are a touch on the slim side but so is my foot.

Higher quality than price would indicate.
I am a general contractor, and I needed a boot that could be on a jobsite but also could look clean and professional for meeting with new clients, etc. This boot has exceeded expectations, and does all I hoped it would. This is a boot's boot. There is nothing fancy or complicated about it. Yet the quality of the leather and stitching seems so far to be very high. The sole barely holds onto soil or snow, which is fantastic for walking into clients' homes from the elements--yet its traction is good enough to wear in light snow and ice conditions, I have found. Of course, the most annoying thing about this style of boot is that there is no shortcut to tying and untying. It simply takes a few minutes. The upside of this is you have a boot that fits your foot and ankle very snugly. Also, one of the lace ends has already come off--plan to invest in some better laces for these boots. I ordered a 10.5 and they fit absolutely perfectly. Typically I wear an 11, but followed the advice of many to order small when ordering any leather boot. I have very high arches and moderately narrow feet. The only surprising feature of this boot was the arch cushion found on the inside, which is precisely what it sounds like. A little pillow that sits under your arch and gives some not-so-subtle support. I have found it to be very comfortable. I had no experience with this in other boots, but I have been really happy with my foot comfort so far. The breaking-in process has been essentially painless. Summary: This is a light-duty stylish work boot. This is not a hiking boot. They take some time to take off and put on. It looks very lovely all oiled up. Scuffing has not been a major problem yet, even having used them on the jobsite some. Invest in better laces. For the price, this boot is a seriously awesome purchase.

Big bang for the buck
Big bang for the buck. These boots are nice at any price. Not saying they are the best work boots or as good as 500 dollar boots, but at about 100 bucks nothing else even comes close. Comfortable almost out of the box. Decent leather, quality build and stitching, retro style. Hope the company can weather the insane tariffs coming because right now they are the best inexpensive boots available.

The Original Jungle Boot
I received these about a week ago right on time. Once unboxed I gave them a good going over for any flaws and found none. The stitching and overall craftmanship was comparable to any high quality boots I own (and I don't own any other kind). Then I slipped them on to make sure they fit and walked around the room. Absolutely perfect fit with no breaking in needed. The padded insole felt as comfortable as my Belleville 1st issue USMC hot weather combat boots which feel like walking on foam pillows. Better yet these boondockers feel like they weigh half as much. They even weigh less than my Chippewa trench boots which are just a variant of the boondocker. In these 100+ degree Texas summers that reduction in weight makes a big difference toward the end of the day. I had some reservations about running through the brambles in low tops during snake season but in the end I decided I'd just have to watch my step. Since most of the Banana War Marines waltzed around Nicaragua in these and half of Carlson's Raiders chose them over the new fangled canvas jungle shoes, they must have something going for them. I'd looked at these Golden Fox boondockers for over a year comparing them to all the repro competitors out there before justifying getting another pair of boots I probably didn't truly need. The decision was made considerably easier by the insane prices those others were asking; some as high as $680 based upon some nitpicky details that made them museum quality replicas. Get real folks! This is basically a mass produced boot intended for the working stiff that nearly every man in my family had worn since before the Mexican Punitive Expedition. Field Marching Shoe, farmer's clodhopper, same thing. They were never intended for the High Society Ballroom Dancing crowd so why price them like they were? Hats off to Golden Fox for producing a practical quality product us mud jumpers can afford. As for being assembled in China, you'd be hard pressed to find anything that isn't these days. Given quality materials to work with, Chinese craftsmanship is equal to any other country. And since every scrap of leather is shipped off to China the minute it comes off a cow in Texas I guess that answers that. At this point I'm pleased as punch with my Golden Fox boondockers and I expect to remain so for a long time to come. And when I finally do wear them down to rags I'll replace them with three more pairs for less than what the others are asking for one. David Campbell L/Cpl USMC (ret) LOL!

Great boots, but some of the details suffer.
Having really researched boots and finding that quality control issues have been reported with some of the larger, more well-known brands, I decided to purchase these Golden Fox boots due to the strength of the reviews here on Amazon. Out of the box, the smell of genuine leather was reassuring, and the thick laces and immediate comfort were extremely welcome. Many boots lack any kind of arch support, but the insole on these boots really helps to keep them comfortable for all-day walking. They also look great. Traveling to the United Kingdom, I decided to take only these boots with me, and I've logged many miles on them over the last 3 weeks, with some days in excess of ten miles. The boots have been extremely comfortable and I cannot recommend them enough. They have been water-resistant and have not allowed any rain in, and they still somehow breathe to keep things comfortable. For me, the only problem rests in some of the details. After only two days of wear, one of the eyelets has popped out of the right boot. It would not snap back in, and, being away from home, I have not had the time to get it replaced. Unfortunately, the metal on both sides of the eyelet has been snagging the laces and has effectively shredded it and will ultimately need replacing. I'm hoping that it will stay intact until I return home, but I do not want to remove the eyelet completely as I do not want the tightened laces to tear into the leather. Overall, these are great boots and a great value, but the details are where I am a bit disappointed with boots over $100. Hopefully it is just an issue with my pair. I deducted 2 stars as I will ultimately need to spend additional money to replace both the eyelet and laces.

Very Pleased, appear to be a high quality boot
The leather is very soft, feel great right out of the box. There isn't much of a break in period. I love that hey have a very high quality insole, that is removable. You can put in your own preferred insole, or as in my case it accomodates and orthodic very well. The heal cup is great very little slippage from the start. The absence of slippage may also be partially due to the height of the boot. Roomy toe box. I would compare the sole grippyness to a Clark's jungle boot but it is not the same material. It has a patterned tread. I do not believe these are true rough out style, the inner is sueded as well as the outside. But that may contribute to their softness. Please note that the 4th picture depicts the underside of the insole with my modification for Morton's Neuroma, it is a nice clean blue when you get it with nothing taped on. FIT; I went with what they advised, a half size under your normal shoe size. I think if you had a wide foot you probably should keep it your normal size. Buy with prime and get the size you need as long as you don't damage the boot while you are trying it out. This is not a combat, tactical or hiking boot. I think you will be fine with some light hiking but the crepe sole is just not meant for aggressive hiking.

So far, so good
I've only had these boots for a couple of days. So I may add to this review once i've had more time with them. 1. These boots took a week to arrive because they came from US Amazon. (I'm in Canada). However, The Thursday Boots I ordered a while back were delivered the next day. Both are American boot companies. 2. The build quality is fabulous - especially for the price. Stitches all line up. No loose threads. Impressive. 3. They did't fit perfectly. Not the boot's fault though. They were a tad loose. However, that was easily fixed by inserting an insole. Now they fit perfectly. 4. So comfortable. Virtually no break in. And the soles are very quiet. 5. My only real complaint is that there are no speed hooks. So putting them on and takin them off takes time. I'll take these to my local cobbler and get speed hooks installed. All in all, for the price, these are great boots. Quality of the leather, construction, fit - just great.

These do NOT have a crepe sole as advertised.
These boots are fantastic for the money and I am pretty happy with the purchase, HOWEVER, they do not have crepe soles as advertised. Instead they have a more standard hard rubber sole with a molded crepe-like texture. They do not have the softness or spring of a true crepe sole. I don't know if that is dishonest marketing or just an error but it has marred an otherwise happy transaction.

Boot is well made EXCEPT for the sole
The boot is a solid boot. Unfortunately the sole is dangerous and will slip on wet, hard surfaces. My feet went out from under me and I ended up tearing my quad muscle above the knee.
