This door kit came with easy to use instructions making installation way easier than I anticipated. It is sturdy and functions perfectly. Make sure you use the template that comes with it for drilling and it will take no time at all to install. Great product and great value.

Solid quality replacement for our storm door. The matte black finish looks modern and it feels sturdy when opening and closing. Easy install with basic tools.

Instructions were clear and easy and the installation went smoothly -- except for the "break the spindle" part as other reviewers have stated. That was a joke! I finally ended up getting it by doing two things: first I used wire cutters to deepen the score mark (pressed the handle against a countertop to get some weight on it) and then when using the two pairs of pliers, hold the spindle with one next to the line and take the other and turn it 90 degrees so you're facing the spindle head on. Only then can you get enough leverage to break the piece off - no way I could get them to move side-by-side like the diagram showed. Oh, and don't make the same mistake I did and break it at the line still showing outside the door - go for the first line INSIDE the door instead. I had to break it twice to get to the right length. But after installation it functions great and is the perfect replacement for one that had rusted solid!

Its made of good metal. It fits and works. The lock is easy to flip with one hand and it looks better than the old one. Very easy to install with one phillips screwdriver in about five minutes.

Normally I'd have not have risked purchased this, but I was in a time crunch for a quick repair. I've been lucky with a hassle free installation, but the low quality materials shows. I expect this handle and every handle I ever consider purchasing to work without flaw for the next 20-40 years. I'm not going to be surprised if I'm futzing and replacing this handle in 6mo to 6 years. Performs as advertised at installation. Will not be returning or demanding refund (for being tricked into buying more unwanted garbage) unless it fails before I move. Installing was easy. My old screen door's existing drill holes lined up and I did not have to install the doors first handle by drilling new holes. Be prepared for this though if the handle doesn't line up for your door. This you can not measure for based on the information provided on the Store page. I was lucky as I didn't take my own advice by measuring my door width first. Installation time was 45min including tool gathering and cleanup. I read the directions, the wind was blowing a bit and I still mismeasured once and didn't shorten the center rod that needed removed and shortened. ;) * Lock: Non keylock version for indoor locking only. Some reviewer's complain about the lock not locking. It has a nice anti-lockout feature built into the latch so you don't accidently lock yourself out. Works well and is automatic. * COLOR and materials: Materials are a mix of plastic and aluminum. The whole thing is painted light GRAY. The spring is also thin, which I expect to rust too soon. This is NOT a brushed aluminum finish I was hoping to better match with my door. Installation instructions are adequate but printed VERY SMALL. The installation instructions need to be posted on the Store page. Read all the reviews before you decide to purchase this frequently returned item. Overpriced for what it is at $14 and high risk of early failure based on other reviews.

This is a very basic latch replacement for screen/storm door handle -- not keyed! -- with extra strikes and screws to accommodate different sizes. Installation is a breeze -- took perhaps 5 min. for this senior citizen -- assuming you are replacing a latch that had what is now the standard spacing for the holes. You need to pick the 2 screws of those included (several sizes) to match the thickness of your door. The most difficult part of the installation is simply making sure that you adjust the length of the bar (snaps off to various lengths depending on the thickness of the door) so that the latch will operate correctly from both sides. If you don't snap the bar to the correct length, the inner handle won't latch/unlatch or may not stay locked, or the outer button may seem to latch instead of unlatch. As others have noted, the strike plates with this set are not the spring-bar type but rather the solid type; two different height plates are included, to accommodate all those different types of doors and spacings that have been used in the past. You can also use this with a spring-bar plate, but you'd have to buy that separately for a few dollars. Two plastic shims are also included with this, to allow more finely adjusting the height of the strike used. And as mentioned above, several lengths of the two screws are included, to accommodate different door thicknesses. I am giving this latch set 5 stars for one very specific feature: There is no bothersome easy-to-lose separate spiral spring, as you'd find on almost every other inexpensive latch replacement set. Instead, the spring functionality is incorporated into the outer handle. Wow, why haven't all the other manufacturers done this, instead of relying on that annoying separate spiral spring that is so easy to drop when assembling the latch to the door?? [I have to admit, at first I thought this was just missing the part, but instead it's been replaced by something actually attached to the handle.] For that alone, plus the low-low price of this Amazon add-on item, I give this 5 stars. If you are comfortable with a screwdriver, you will have no trouble getting this installed.
