Can anyone comment on continued use? Are these dampers still delivering after 6 mo of use?

for us they started to fail after 4-5 years, that is with teens closing doors hard.  Cost of buying another set of these $50 vs redoing our kitchen cabinets is a no brainier.  Even if they only lasted 3 years this is still not a difficult decision.  I never had a body on one of these break so being plastic is not an issue.  the spring just wore out.  I could have put 2 per door but am more than happy with how long they lasted for the price.  Kids are grown and moved out so 1 per door will be fine for me and the wife

Do these come with the screws or will I need to buy those separately? If I need to purchase screws what size is needed?

Mine came with some screws but not enough for all 25 dampers

what does this mean **works for cabinets with self-closing hinges only?

Accepted Answer

Yes, without the self closing hinges, you would have to push the soft close unit with the door to close.  If you are going to replace the hinges, look at the soft close hinges, then you would not need this product.  It is however a very easy to install and works very well, no more cabinet doors banging.

Question 4

Is the Rok soft close dampner made entirely of plastic and painted with a metal type (nickel) finish?  Or are parts of the dampner plastic and metal?

It's been a while since I installed these ( I've since moved to new house with dampers as part of hinges) but there is a minimum of metal, mostly plastic and I did have a few of them fail to dampen the door closing even when adjusted to max. Fortunatley I had extras on hand. I would suggest buying about 10-20%  more than you need to replace those that fail after many uses.  Not a bad design but could be built a bit more sturdy for longer lasting performance. It seemed the ones that failed were on upper cabinets that were accessed more frequently.
