The seamless USB connectivity ensures hassle-free setup and compatibility with a wide range of devices, while the clarity of the audio signals is nothing short of impressive. Whether I'm recording vocals, instruments, or podcasts, the UMC404HD delivers pristine sound quality every time. One of the most impressive aspects of this interface is its versatility, thanks to its four inputs and outputs. The individual gain controls and pad switches for each input make it incredibly easy to dial in the perfect levels, whether I'm recording multiple instruments simultaneously or mixing multiple audio sources. This level of control is invaluable for both beginners and experienced musicians alike, allowing for precise adjustments to achieve the desired sound. While the unit lacks a USB input, the inclusion of XLR and 1/4" jacks more than makes up for it. These versatile input options accommodate a wide range of audio devices, ensuring compatibility with virtually any setup. Additionally, I appreciate the ability to connect my open-back headphones, monitor speakers, and instruments directly to the interface, allowing me to tailor the mix to my preferences with ease. Works as advertised
I record as a hobby and finally decided to move into the digital age. For the last few decades, I have been using analog tape. This interface worked as advertised and was very easy to setup and use (BTW I am no computer genius); I had a much steeper learning curve with the Reaper software I am using compared to this interface. It is cheap (i.e., no bells and whistles) but has everything on it I need. I have used it a couple of times to record a live band and I was surprised at the performance of this interface. I have not made any measurements but to my ears, the noise floor is quite low. The preamps sound good, although I have mainly used the line inputs. I give this 5-stars because it is exactly what I ordered and works better than I had hoped.

First and Now Favorite Brand
This was my first audio interface, recommended by a friend, and it made such an impression on me that it will be my brand of choice. The value was great, not very budget breaking. I did have some initial issues as I tried to find the right driver to work with my daw, probably user error, but once that was worked out everything was great. I use it every day, it only has 4 inputs so I have to switch them out a lot for different instruments. So far it has been very sturdy with all the removing and inserting inputs. Absolutely 0 latency that I have experienced. Will be looking for one with more inputs soon, as I plan to have a second recording station.

Very Good unit for the price.
This is a great unit for the cost. I have used several others and this one allows you several plug in options. If you need to plug in more than 2 instruments or mics, this is a great unit. The cons would be that it sends of an periodic tic when not being used but still plugged in. This can be heard through powered speakers and seen through lights on the unit, Can be annoying. Haven't noticed it on any recordings though. I also this this printing on the unit should be a brighter white or hi viz green as it's hard to read in the studio. Easy to use, easy to set up, appears to be well made.

I bought a UMC202HD then I bought this because it was such a great product
I have been using a UMC202HD which is a two channel version and I needed a second audio interface for a PC in another room so I decided to get the 404HD this time around because I'm so impressed and happy with the product. The quality of sound is ridiculously good considering the price. The build is pretty good, but of course it's not as solid as something costing far more. I can feel the slightest amount of play with the knobs and phones input so I can already tell without opening it that it's directly mounted to the circuit board without any support. I don't expect this to be a problem for me as since I don't tweak the knobs as often as someone running a professional studio. I don't have a dedicated recording studio and my microphones are not in the thousand dollar range, so the benefits of a super expensive interface would have made no difference in my situation. I record at home so the acoustics aren't optimized like a purpose built studio where the differences are perceptible. I use Audacity a lot and because that software can't do multiple interfaces at the same time, so the 404HD gives me more channels so that I can record from multiple microphones which allows me to choose and mix. It also allows me to not have to physically swap inputs and change input settings and levels along with that. I'd rather not wear out the panel connectors either. I don't necessarily regret buying the 202HD, but after buying the 404HD, I think that for the extra money, it is worth having the extra channels if simply for the convenience and future proofing.

Easy To Use Interface...
I purchased this interface because our USB circuit went out on our Midas M18 and we used that to feed the Livestream PC. I took an aux out from the mixer to the Behringer, and it worked perfectly. PC recognized the interface right away without having to download any extra drivers. Easy_peasy.

Wow. Just wow. Punches well above it's weight.
So I had the UMC202 before which gave me two input channels - one XLR and one 1/4" jack but outgrew that as I added more instruments I wanted to record. This unit comes with 4x XLR ports (which allow normal 1/4" jack inputs too), switches to dedicate that port to instrument or mic, individual gain control, external monitor, clip monitor, and much more. On the rear it has multiple output options for transfer sound direct to mixing tables, stereo equipment or computer. For my setup, I use two ports for dedicate microphone and the other two dedicate for instruments (keyboard and electro-accoustic ukulele), and can record all 4 simultaneously. It connects from the included USB lead and has built in 48v phantom power. This can also be powered using their supplied power cable so you don't need USB to run it either. On my setup, I use an amp as an external monitor run off the headphone jack on the right hand side for playback and this unit outputs in full stereo. It was instantly recognisable in GarageBand on a MacMini without any drivers needed. Pros: - is a high definition sound for sure. - has plenty of outputs - has lots of inputs - loads of controls with proper dials to set - easy to use out of the box - works standalone as well as using dedicated pc setup - size is great and fits lovely on my desk - never overheats - solid construction with metal hard-shell and plastic front, all very strong, with sturdy dials Cons: - being ultra picky they don't have any dial markers on the body eg 1-10, but you do have a white marker for the dial itself so you can see where you are at... - not a lot else really! I'm scraping the barrel here because it really is well made. I highly recommend this as it performs even better than the UMD202 which is also a really nice purchase. Considering the price point, it easily punches above it's weight and for what you get I think this would suit anyone from a weekend jammer all the way to a dedicated YouTuber needing multiple microphones and audio output. So versatile. Great value for money.
