An accessible, contemporary introduction to the methods for determining cause and effect in the social sciences “Causation versus correlation has been the basis of arguments―economic and otherwise―since the beginning of time. Causal Inference: The Mixtape uses legit real-world examples that I found genuinely thought-provoking. It’s rare that a book prompts readers to expand their outlook; this one did for me.”―Marvin Young (Young MC) Causal inference encompasses the tools that allow social scientists to determine what causes what. In a messy world, causal inference is what helps establish the causes and effects of the actions being studied―for example, the impact (or lack thereof) of increases in the minimum wage on employment, the effects of early childhood education on incarceration later in life, or the influence on economic growth of introducing malaria nets in developing regions. Scott Cunningham introduces students and practitioners to the methods necessary to arrive at meaningful answers to the questions of causation, using a range of modeling techniques and coding instructions for both the R and the Stata programming languages. Review: Riddled with mistakes..beware! - Book is riddled with mistakes which makes you lose confidence to go further. I spent almost 2 hours trying to understand a simple set theory which didnt make sense at all with what is written. Finally, I gave up and checked the online version of this book and realized it is a mistake in the printed version! (Images attached) Given that this book was written in 2021, It is fair to expect that basic simple mistakes would have been corrected already. Given that I am a novice in causal inference, how do I recognize further mistakes in the material that might go unnoticed. If I have to double check every concept in the online version of the book, it completely defeats the purpose of owning a hard copy in the first place. Disappointed that I have spent 2500 bucks on this. Please stick to online version, it looks like hardcopies havent been upgraded since 2021. Review: Very accessible and surprisingly light - Difficult concepts made entertaining and relatively accessible. Perhaps a funny feature, but for such a book it's actually really lightweight, which is incredibly beneficial for someone who has to carry it to university and back several times a week.

Un buon libro anche per i cultori della materia.
Il libro è fatto bene e aiuta a consolidare le conoscenze in causal inference.

Excellent book, wish the publisher had used a better font
Excellent book, the reviews in the cover do it justice. You will still have to read it side by side with your standard graduate econometrics book such as Hansen’s recent textbook. What subtract from the book is the poor choice of fonts used, which renders math equations and symbols very badly. You can see that in the two photos - the better fonts correspond to the Angrist and Pischke book.

Absolument génial
Un livre d'une très grand clarté qui offre un beau panorama de ce qui se fait de mieux en terme de research designs. Le style est agréable et les exemples (notamment les bouts de code) sont très utiles pour enseigner ! Merci Prof. Cunningham !
