How long do the plants last, can I grow more than just the seed kit it comes with? What if I want tomatoes and lettuce at the same time?

You can absolutely grow more than the seed kit that came with your garden. Generally herbs will last 4-6 months, salad greens will last 3-5 months, tomato and pepper plants can produce for well over a year and flowers can last even longer than that!  We have a wide variety of seed kits or a Grow Anything Seed Kit so you can plant your own seeds. The possibilities are endless! You can mix plant varieties in your garden too, just be sure to prune your plants to ensure each ones is getting sufficient light.

Is there any comparison between the "2019" Bounty and the one with the larger square control panel? Also compare the 4 listed here?

The one with the larger square control panel is our older model. There are quite a few upgrades added to the newer model of the AeroGarden Bounty. The 2019 models have a sleeker, more modern design for improvements to both form and function. The Bounty Basic is the base model. The lights on the Bounty and Bounty Elite are dimmable so you can adjust the intensity of the light periodically. And the garden is more intelligent - with a more sophisticated water level indicator, customizable light settings, easier Wi-Fi connectivity, and Alexa-enabled. I only want to grow varieties of lettuce.  Is this a good unit for that?  I'm very new to this.  Thank you.

It will depend on the variety of lettuce.  The plants are close together - like 3 to 4 inches.  You can get up to about 24 inches high.  With 9 seed pods, you could leave some empty to get more room between your plants.  They do sell several lettuce seed pods so you can grow lettuce - I have not tried this.  I am growing herbs and they did well until the machine failed to tell me it needed water and they had a drought crisis which they never really recovered from.  Mature plants go through a LOT of water, and I use distilled, so be sure to keep a lot handy and check several times a week no matter what the machine says.  When first starting it seems like it uses no water for weeks - and then bam, lots of water.
