Simply plug it into an outlet or any PC USB. It will be charged. Very simple.

Does the display show song info when connected with bluetooth or just radio stations and sd card info?

It just shows radio station numbers I don't know about sd card info.

Can you use it without the battery?

No, you must have a charged/charging battery for this unit to work. I've never been able to get it to work plugged into USB, but without the battery installed.
