It’s American Optical for crying out loud.
This was a solid purchase. The quality surpassed my expectations and the color is spot on and rich. Very comfortable to wear and the visibility is completely unobstructed. You need these glasses.

Amazing sunglasses
5 stars for the sunglasses which are excellent. Minus one star as my frames were a bit twisted at the bridge and therefore the temples weren’t even and needed to be adjusted. I would have expected that to be part of the QC checks before sending out the frame as acetate frames can warp in storage etc. and need to be heated back into alignment. It’s fine if you buy in a store but if you buy online you either need to make the adjustments yourself if you know how or beg a random opticians to do it for you.

Beautifully made & excellent quality; great clarity & fit, robust frames
Apart from my prescription sunglasses that I only use for driving, I have never owned an expensive pair of sunglasses until now. These are excellent sunglasses and the clarity of the lenses is amazing. I ordered the Brown Demi version in the smaller 52 mm size. The frame fits me perfectly and the sunglasses very light weight so I almost don't even know I am wearing them. Despite being almost weightless, the frames look and feels sturdy. The hinges are robust and operate smoothly. The lenses are a good size for me -- plenty of coverage to protect my eyes, but not large and overwhelming for my small face, as many sunglasses are. The sunglasses are assembled in the United States. The frames are handmade of cellulose acetate in the US. The lenses are globally sourced but are seated into the frames and finished in the Chicago manufacturing facility. For the Demi Brown version, the lenses are made of nylon. They are polarized and have an inner anti-reflective coating and an outer scratch-resistant coating. They are also impact resistant. The lenses are classified as Filter Category 3, with a dark tint that allows for 8% -18% of light to be transmitted through them (Category 2 lenses have a medium tint and transmit more light and Category 4 lenses are very dark and transmit very little light. Category 3 is the most popular. The tint of the lens for the Demi Brown version of the AO sunglasses is True-color Grey which allows for decreased fatigue in bright light. Some of the other choices feature the Calobar Green (as in the Tortoise version; good for true color perception) or Cosmetan Brown (as in the Havana version; good for contrast) tinted lenses with different properties, so if this is important to you, check the product details before ordering. The sunglasses have several marks of authenticity: the AO (American Optical) logo and shield is on the temple and the logo is also etched onto one lens, and the term polarized is etched onto the other lens (some of AO brand sunglasses are not polarized). The current price of these sunglasses is $249.00, a lot of money by any standards, but they are definitely very well made of high-quality materials. I think they are well worth the cost.
