a solid option for an almond-based, long-life, dairy-free drink.
The taste is pleasantly mild and nutty, with a light sweetness. Itโs not overpoweringly almond-y, which means it can work in a range of ways (in cereal, smoothies, with coffee). Itโs smooth and easy to drink as is (chilled) Being long-life (shelf stable until opened) is a big plus โ nice to have some extras in the pantry. The โdairy-free / lactose-free / plant-basedโ label is accurate. Good for those with lactose sensitivity or avoiding dairy.Nutritionally, it has the benefit of being low in saturated fat

Good value
I use almond milk to make protein shakes as it is lower in calories and the protein powder mixes much better than cows milk. This particular brand has a better flavour and isnโt as sweet as some alternatives. This multi-pack offers really good value for money and came well packaged as well.

A stronger flavoured, thicker alternative to its competitiors
This is a tasty non-dairy alternative to cows milk, and perfect for fans of all things nutty. This being my first foray into the world of almond milk, I decided to buy both this and Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Original, 1l so that I could compare the two. Below are my results. Flavour: Both milks have a sweet, slightly nutty taste, though the alpro milk is certainly the stronger of the two. Blue diamond had less of an impact on the flavour profile of the different things that I used it with. If you think that the flavour of the milk adds to food rather than detracts, then alpro wins in this regard. Otherwise, you should go for blue diamond Consistency: Alpro was the creamier of the two milks, with a slightly darker colour and smoother mouthfeel. I'm not sure how this effect is achieved since the almond contents of each is fairly similar, so it must be something else in the ingredients. The blue diamond milk on the other hand is thinner, with a consistency closer to that of skimmed/semi-skimmed milk. The difference did seem to have an impact on the way different foods were effected by the milk, you can read more about that below. Price: There's no escaping the fact that milk alternatives cost at lease double their dairy counterparts, which is a shame and a bit of a wonder. Surely nuts are less costly to grow and maintain than living animals? Either way, I believe alpro usually costs slightly more than blue diamond, although I managed to get them at the same price. Below are some observations on how the milk is with various things Corn flakes: Alpro didn't fare so well with the corn flakes, making them soggy more quickly than blue diamond or regular cows milk. I put this down to the fact that it was the thicker of the two, and I personally felt that it made the eating experience worse. While the flavour of the milk is nice, it doesn't go well with soggy corn flakes. The blue diamond worked better, only making the cereal soggy towards the end of the bowl. Bran flakes: The bran flakes were more resistant to getting soggy thankfully. With both milks, the first bite or two gave the impression that the two flavours don't work that great together, but after a few bites you get used to it and it's pretty delicious! Both milks worked well here, and the only separating factor is whether or not you'd prefer a stronger flavour. Porridge: I have my porridge with berries, honey and a little peanut butter, so it was quite difficult to gauge the flavour coming through. It certainly didn't detract from it though, adding just enough flavour to be pleasant. The porridge made with alpro was a little less liquid, with more swollen oats, whereas Blue diamond produced a more runny porridge. One of my favourite things with both, however, is the fact that neither stick to the bottom of the pan like cows milk does, making the cleanup so much easier (nothing beats hemp milk in this regard though) Tea: As far as I can tell, both milks have a pretty similar effect to cows milk when used in tea. The resulting tea tends to be a little darker, with a more translucent effect, like you would get when you compare using skimmed milk to full-fat. Not much to say here. It is a little different, but not by much. Verdict: I personally preferred Blue Diamond milk. It's a little bit cheaper, and is closer to cows milk than alpro. I also didn't want the flavour to be too overpowering which is why I will be opting for the more subtle of the two from now on. If you're had almond milk before however and you know that you love the flavour then go for alpro. Just keep in mind the effects that its thicker consistency might have on things. If you found this review helpful then let me know with a thumbs up! Likewise if you felt it was lacking, then give it a thumbs down. Happy shopping!
