I recently purchased this Tesla lamp on Amazon, and I must say, it has exceeded my expectations! The design is compact yet elegant, making it a wonderful addition to any desk or shelf. A little smaller than anticipated but it’s ok cause it was for my 7 year old! He loves it and so does his dad lol

This is basically a mixture of toy and decor. Nobody's life will be changed by whether or not they have one. But it IS a fun and cool-in-a-geeky-way decoration. The only reason that I'm dinging it a star is that at the top of the page it's listed as 8 inches in diameter, while it's actually 7cM, which to us savages is between 2½ and 3 inches. I connected it to test it to one of the convenience USB charging ports on my living room couch. It didn't cause any interference to my Wife's iPad or either of our phones that were also charging on it. The cable is USB to barrel, not µUSB so you can't use a spare charger. I've seen other things with similar, so I'm not calling it "proprietary," but you will need an adapter with an open port rather than a cable and connector. I didn't check directly connecting to the computer, but I don't see anything that would make me think that it would cause problems. On the other hand, I'm not willing to risk my hard drive integrity, either. I'll update if my Grandson's gaming system has any problems, but I don't really expect any. Since it uses Blue Tooth for the controller, that would be a good torture test. He's more Sid than Andy, so it will also be a good reliability test. I'm writing this Christmas Day and it's a stocking-stuffer, so we'll see, probably before school resumes. If you've read any of my other reviews, (my reviewer ranking is 960,795. When I was growing up my Father always said "Son, you'll never be #1. At least try to be in the top 960,796." Well, Dad, I made it!) if I was a Teacher, I would be known as an "easy A." If it works as it should, doesn't require any modification to the application to use as intended (e.g. a light bulb that doesn't quite fit a normal socket without cutting the neck of the socket) and does the "assignment" as worded, it gets 5*. But there has to be a limit. If the assignment was to recite a poem in front of the class and someone chose Bennett Cerf's "Fleas" (Adam Had 'em) should they still get the A? When I tested it, it worked and didn't give me a shock or anything. The packaging protected it even though the corners got a little dinged in transit. The cable seems like won't break when you lift it to dust underneath. Again, the reason for the 4* review is the mistake in the ad copy. It is substantially smaller than the top of the ad states, and while it does have the correct diameter lower in the ad, you might miss it if in a hurry looking for last minute gifts.

Very small, does not work well. Cheap, flimsy. Does not make good "lightning" inside the globe. Disappointing. Maybe bigger versions are better; this one sucks.
