These are great.
We have a few of these monitoring data rooms and they work great, they are overall easy to setup, but you do need to carefully configure your alerts including adding low battery and lost connection. The granularity of the alerts is amazing, and the devices have worked flawlessly. We just ordered 6 Temp Stick Pro with the probes (not available on Amazon) units for monitoring walk-in fridges etc. Make sure you use Lithium batteries, standard alkaline batteries don't seem to stand up well, I figure it's the wireless connection that strains them, but the lithium batteries like they come with work well. If you are looking to get a real time temp reading at any point in time this is not for you, it reads at intervals and records/alerts based on that.

This thing works so reliably!
I used this thing to check if my fridge was staying cool enough. It's really easy to set up, there's step-by-step instructions included and even somebody who is clueless like myself could do it. I did have a problem accessing the setup page but that's because I had a bad browser on my phone (Opera) and switching to a normal browser like Firefox fixed the logging in problem. When you open the app on your phone you get a nice graph of the temperature and humidity. You can pick the time range in days/weeks to look at it historically, including the last 24 hours. You can click on data points to see the exact temperature and humidity at that point but it also reports the highs, lows, and average. What I like is the simplicity of the app: no ads, no nagging, easy to use. It just shows you info and that's it, exactly as it should be. The software developers that made this thing should be commended for sticking with a "keep it simple" philosophy because it's so easy to use. About privacy you do have to register an account with Ideal Sciences (Temp Stick creator) but they don't want any info other than a user name and password. And you do have to give the Temp Stick device your WiFi password so it can join the network, which is understandable. I can't find any information about their privacy policy or security policy though -- no reason to doubt them and maybe I'm not looking in the right place, but I would like to know more about that. My wish list for improvements would be: 1. Some way to pinch to zoom in/out on the graph and scroll left and right through it. 2. Able to look at the last N hours instead of 24 hours. These are minor issues though. For fridge users, my experience is that every time the door opens the humidity goes up, and if you accidentally leave the door ajar the humidity stays up. So the humidity graph is a great thing to check first to see when the door was open. Then check the temp graph at the same location. What I learned from using the Temp Stick is that my fridge is just fine, but putting warm food in really does make it work harder and I need to set the cooling level a little lower than I thought. I'd never know otherwise! Anyway the Temp Stick is a little pricey but in my experience it's 100% reliably, easy to set up, easy to use, and very, very convenient.

very reliable, great interface application, easy to set up
These are the best temperature sensors ever. I have had two working for the last three years with no issues ever. I just bought the new one that has ac backup power. The setup was easier than any other similar wi fi based product that I have ever used - excellent. The application on your phone for sensor data, alerts and such is very well designed and intuitive. I love the ability to change time scales on the data shown, and look at old data as well. The system is robust to power and wi-fi outages, always comes back online. With the lithium batteries, I get a year plus of life on the default once per hour data update. I used to pay over 30 dollars a month for a cellular network based product when I did not have wifi at my 2nd house. I decided to just take that money and use toward the cost of wi-fi and have all the other benefits of having wifi. Paying up front in the sensor price for the monitoring is the way to go in the long run - one less bill to deal with and cost to increase. The price for the sensor is very reasonable. The ac version comes with the usb power supply and cable.

Working flawlessly in multiple walk-in coolers *UPDATE AC adapter to replace batteries*
The battery life is okay, but there is nothing better than plugging into an AC outlet. I'm including a link for an AC adapter that works great with the Temp Stick. You of course need an outlet near by. Use the "dummy" batteries for set-up. The one with the cord attached is the one you will pull out 6 times to enter set up. You can also just plug and unplug the barrel connector (part of the AC adapter kit) 6 times to put the Temp Stick in set up mode. I drilled a hole the width of the thin ribbon cable in the corner of the battery compartment cover that connects to the one dummy battery and leads to the plug part of the adapter. This will keep the cable from getting damaged. If you are looking at the front face of the Temp Stick / battery cover, I drilled the hole in the bottom left part of the battery compartment cover. The dummy battery with the wire is then placed on the left side of the battery compartment, and you can run the cable through the hole in the cover. You will have to snip the edge of the hole you drilled to create a gap to slip the cable through. It's possible to close the battery cover on the ribbon cable without drilling a hole, but I didn't want to risk damaging the cable. I have had these plugged in and running for weeks now. The work great. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096NCTFSG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I have 7 walk-in coolers and countless commercial refrigerators running 24/7. I'm in the process of having a new walk-in installed currently, and got a quote for a remote temperature monitoring system from the manufacturer. The unit was quoted at $720.00. Many of these require monthly monitoring contracts. Temp Stick takes about 5 minutes to set-up and mount (some of the easiest tech to deploy in recent memory). The wireless radio seems robust, and I've had zero issues installing these inside walk-in coolers and connecting and staying connected to my wireless networks. You can do it all from your smartphone. The online portal is free (just like the phone app). I also have some Emerson Sensi smart thermostats (that are also a great value and are very intuitive to use). The only complaint on those is that the phone app is free, but the online portal (actual computer access) is $1.00 a month per thermostat. Temp Stick gives you both for free. The Temp Stick app and online portal give tons of valuable information, and battery status is included in that info (so you will know when to replace the batteries before they die). I haven't imagined a feature that I would like that is not included. Very thoughtful execution on the product and the customer facing interface. I've had many refrigerators and walk-ins break down overnight, only to show up in the morning to find thousands of dollars of food spoiled. It's a really bad start to the day. If Temp Stick saves me only one time by alerting me to a failed cooler (and it will), it will pay for all seven Temp Stick purchases in one fell swoop. Great product.

Fiddly to set up - but works as advertised
Temp Sticks work as advertised, but are a bit fiddly to set up. I was unable to connect mine to wifi, until I did a factory reset several times. Part of the problem is that the instructions say to turn off the power switch, press and hold the reset button, then turn back on and wait 30 seconds for the red led to turn to Blue. I finally figured out this takes longer than 30 seconds, on my device is was closer to a minute. You have to be patient wait for the red led to actually turn blue. I was giving up too soon. Once I managed to actually factory reset the TempStick, it easily connected to my wifi network and I was able to set up the device, including a set of automatic alerts for low temperature, high humidity, and low battery. Once set up, the device can push out alerts to an email address or send a text message to your cellphone, or both. One point that some other reviewers have noted - the TempStick does not update its readings constantly. I have mine set to the recommended once an hour rate, with updates every thirty minutes if one of the alerts has been triggered. This is not a device for logging minute by minute temps/humidity. For my use this is perfect. I'm using mine for remote monitoring temp of a boat. This will let me check the boat temp in cold weather and alert me if I need to take action to keep things from freezing.

Peace of mind is worth the price
Our expensive 2 year old fridge suddenly stopped cooling, and we lost $200 in groceries that were bought the day before the failure. We did some research and some home troubleshooting that seemed to fix it after a few days, so we re-stocked the fridge. Within 2 days, it failed again and we lost all those groceries too. At that point I was so paranoid about not being able to trust the fridge (we have folks with significant health issues in the house, and so having safe food is EXTREMELY important), so I started looking around for a temperature alarm. I wanted something that didn't require a subscription, that monitored the temperature, which would also alert my phone/email of any big temperature fluctuations or when the temp went into the danger zone (over 40F). I wanted something that could also export the data, so we could show it to the warranty company and the repair technician. This fit the bill best, so even though it was significantly more expensive than I wanted, I got it. I'm so glad I did! It works wonderfully - we tested its temperature readings vs an analog thermometer & a laser thermometer for the first week and it always came out within a couple tenths of a degree. The app is easy to use and unobtrusive. The text alerts work very well with almost no delay. I didn't expect the ability to make it to readings more frequently when it finds the temperature outside of a set range, but that is now my favorite feature. I wish you could export the data to a spreadsheet file from the app, but you can only do that from the website. When the repair guy came, we showed him the graphs of the temperature fluctuations the fridge had been experiencing in the week and a half between the first issue and his arrival, and his mind was blown. He'd never seen anything like it, and raved about how much easier it made diagnosing the issue for him. He said that without these graphs, he'd have had to assume a smaller problem and try that first, which he was confident it *wasn't*, which would've wasted weeks more time before being able to get him back out when that fix didn't work. Since he could see the graphs and see how wildly the temperature was swinging and how long it was staying above 40F, he was able to get right to the actual problem without having to follow company policy of doing the cheaper, less-likely repair first. He installed a couple new parts, and told us how to troubleshoot that ourselves if it didn't work. He said if we had to call back to schedule another warranty repair, to tell them about the graphs and list the readings for them on the phone so they could order the appropriate parts ahead of time. Thankfully, we didn't need to do that since his first repair seems to have fixed the problem well enough that we've now gone three weeks without it ever going above 40F for longer than 15 minutes (after someone opens the fridge for more than a minute or so). I'm so happy with this thing, it was worth every penny for the peace of mind - and the time saved on unnecessary repairs.

Offline and probably failed after one week of use
I bought this product to keep an eye on my second home after I did some emergency repairs on the furnace and needed to be sure that it was running properly. The Temp Stick worked fine for one week, but now it's "off line" with no earthly indication of what might be wrong. Here I am 200 miles away wondering whether I need to go check on the house because it burned down, because my Internet service crapped out, or because the Temp Stick failed. My bet is on the Temp Stick failing, so it gets one star until I go find out for sure. Update on March 9: I finally made it to the house tonight and spent a half hour trying various combinations of cycling its power switch, removing and replacing its batteries, and pressing the reset button. Nothing I did would bring it back on line. Finally, I reset my router (no change) and then used the phone app to change the router assignment for the Temp Stick. Before I could finish the procedure, it recognized the router and went back on line. As others have pointed out, this product is useless to most of us buyers if it fails to maintain internet connectivity and requires in-person intervention to solve the problem. I see that the ol' Temp Stick has been racking up a bunch of 1-star ratings, and I suspect it will be receiving quite a few more. To those who have given it high ratings, I say good luck--you'll need it. And to those who are thinking of buying one based on the high ratings, I say that you have better and more affordable choices. If you are thinking of using this product just to monitor indoor temperature and be sure that your furnace is working, you would be much better off installing a WiFi-enabled thermostat (for the same or not much more money) and gaining the ability to monitor and control the furnace as well. I am going to take that approach myself.

Easy to use and does it's job
It has been about 2 weeks and I have had a positive experience. Setting up the wifi was tricky. I had to use my laptop to set it up but once that was done it was fine. I use it in my sealed crawlspace to monitor the effectiveness of my dehumidifier. It is easy to set up alerts. If my humidity exceeds 50% it alerts me by text and email. Good product.
