Petroleum Refining in Nontechnical Language

The contents and quality of this book are in no doubt, but for such an expensive book the construction of the book was seriously faulty. This book came shrink-wrapped in cellophane/plastic. So, it cound not have been checked for this flaw prior to dispatch. The hard cover pages of the cover were upside down and back to front relative to the body of the text of the book. So, when you opened what seemed to be the front cover, you got the last page of the index of the book but it was upside-down. Similarly if you opened the back cover of the book, you got the first front page of the book but again upside-down. The contents of the book itself were complete. My complaint to Amazon elicited a token £5 discount and short of returning the book and running the risk of the shrink wrapped replacement also having the same flaw. I accepted the derisory discount.

This book breaks down concepts in such a way that makes them easily digestible and can make fairly complex systems feel very straightforward.

I have worked in production for 30+ years. My new role now includes refineries. This book was recommended to me by one of my contacts on a refinery. It is an easy read, with lots of insight. I just wished I payed more attention in chemistry class.
