Great for summer learning
This was a great book to help my rising 9th grader over the summer stay up to date on math and reading. There were a few typos on some of the pages such as duplicate questions, answers not always adding up correctly, and days numbered incorrectly. But overall a great summer school book.

Good summer workbook
I purchased this over the summer for my son who had just completed ninth grade and was getting ready for 10th grade. It was helpful for him to use it all during the summer to prevent the summer brain slide. He’s doing well in his 10th grade year. I like the fact that the workbook covers multiple subjects.

Used Summer Bridge Books + Lumos for 9th grader
I've been using Summer Bridge books for the past 10 or so years. They are a good supplement for summer activities. I do periodic reviews (about 1-2 weeks) to see where my kids are. Some are on top of it, some fall behind and we help them catch up. I tear the Answer Keys out and only use them at reviews. If a kid finishes all their books (including Bonuses) before the school year, they are rewarded - $50 or so. I have also used additional supplemental books, but at times this became too much for them except for the older kids, the Summer Bridge books tend to be more "manageable". The Lumos books tend to be more higher level.

Math is Too Advanced
My son took Algebra 1 in 8th grade and finished geometry in 9th grade. As he will be taking Algebra 2 this fall, we wanted a book to help review some of the Algebra concepts he hasn't seen in a while along with other skills to practice. The math in this book is Algebra 2 review. Not Geometry or even Algebra 1 review. Way too advanced for a review and not complete enough for use as an Algebra 2 curriculum, so unless your student has taken Algebra 2 be prepared for math that will frustrate and confuse. We have not used the reading component of this book yet.
