Great camera. Used in the mining industry.
This camera works great! I am in the process of issuing each of my mechanics one to use in the field. I issue tooling at a Caterpillar dealership so these are being used on heavy machinery and are being used in the mining industry. I ordered one just on a whim and gave it to my senor technician to try. After a month he came back to me and told me he loved it and was going to order himself one to have at his house. The pictures are clear and tell them everything they need to know. One of the best parts about it too is that my guys in the field can email or text pictures back to the office and we can let the customers know whats going on inside their machines. I don't know what App is offered with the camera but everyone just downloads Scopecam app and it works perfect.

it does not work with Windows 7 Professional sp2. ...
it does not work with Windows 7 Professional sp2. Does not work with Ubuntu Linux 16.04LTS. Apparently REQUIRES windows 8 or higher. I managed to get this working with LG k20. It did not work with LG k7 or Samsung Galaxy Core Prime, both fairly new Android phones but they have to have solid OTG support. I am not happy about the mirror attachment as the image is totally blurry when trying to view anything through this 1 mirror that came with the camera. Ok, there is a plastic film on the mirror, remove that, but still image quality is poor especially with the LED lights on, there is a glare back into the camera from the LED reflection of the mirror piece. That makes it useless for viewing in tight spaces around corners which I need it to do. Also the it came with some weird wire attachments with no instructions. One has a hook and other has a magnet. The magnet is so tiny so weak that it cannot hold the weight of this use wire up, it just falls down. Its useless accessories. The CamerFi App will keep taking you to Google Play store to Download CameraFi2 which I did. The apps are using as much as 17-18Mb of storage. They ask alot of permissions such as identity and account information. its written by developers in asia and requires a lot of permissions and priveleges on your phone. So if you have security and or privacy concerns, beware. They have a banner ad that blocks a good portion of the screens and menus making it dificult to use also on exit they try and sell you other apps. Very annoying. This item has poor resolution and visibility without alot of lighting. It has a built in light on the end but it does little to help. It cannot focus on anything beyond a few inches away. The best image is about 1 inch away from the end. I think there must be better cameras out there. I made the mistake of buying this one. It took me a month to figure out why it wouldn't work with my LG k7 or Windows 7 laptop or Desktop. I finally got a new phone just to use this device and its not meeting my expectations. I am beyond return options now it seems. So I am leaving this review for others to see. The product is cheap priced but you get what you paid for with this one.

Useful all over
This thing is so handy! I keep finding great uses for this, I used it to inspect my chimney, I used it to see a spark plug around the corner at the back of my engine, I used it to take a look at my throat when I was sick (before the other jobs got it dirty). The image quality isn't fantastic, but for this price, I wasn't expecting great for this price, but it is enough to help get lots of little jobs done. Unfortunately, this is a short focus, so if you are trying to look at something larger, further away (like in my chimney), the light isn't all that strong, so it doesn't do great in those kinds of scenarios anyway. These are great to keep around just in case, once you have one, you will find lots of times that it helps.

Useful toy, already paid for itself with peace of mind for the wife.
This thing paid for itself today, hours after it arrived. For the past month or two there has been a scrabbling noise around my sliding door. It wasn't anything in the shutters, I was hoping it wasn't in the wall or ceiling. I attached the camera with some tape to a fiberglass rod and pushed it into the gap between the door frame and the fixed door and what did I find? Two giant curly tail lizards! Their claws have been making the scratching noises as they came and went from their aluminum door frame home. My wife is extremely relieved that it was lizards and not rats. I have attached the video I took. So the actual review: For twenty bucks it's hard to beat. Image quality is so-so but it's only VGA so I knew what to expect. The light quality from the onboard LEDs is decent but nothing to write home about. It shifts everything towards blue so the white balance is off. When the camera is in ambient light, everything is a little too warm. The floppy wire was expected and I figured if I was going to need to make it go somewhere I would just tape it to something rigid or bendable. I have seen other reviews with complaints about the phone app having advertisments, I'm using "Scopecam" on a Samsung Note 5 and it's working just fine with no issues or ads and I can take video or stills. The focal distance is about 2.5 inches to infinity, I would rather have had something a little closer, say .5 to 1 inches but this is fine. It includes some accessories, a magnet, a hook, and a 45 degree mirror. I'm not sure how useful the accessories will be with a floppy cable but as I mentioned earlier, just tape it to something and you can finagle it towards where it needs to be. I am very pleased with this and it has already paid for itself in piece of mind.

Not really useful.
I really wanted to like this, but it really fails to live up to expectations. If you point it across the room it performs like a low resolution camera which is fine and not unexpected. However, when used in obscured (dark) places, relying upon the built-in illumination it performs poorly. It seems like the light from the LED's spill into the field of view and overwhelm the camera. I've used it to look into nooks and crannies of my engine and suspension and cannot make out what it's pointed at. If I'm able to shine a flashlight into the area, there is some resolution - but trying to manuver the cable and head, orient a flashlight and position my phone for viewing is a total pain in the neck. IMO, it's little more than a toy. At this price I suppose it performs OK for some tasks.

Needed the small 5.5mm diameter!
Nice little camera with metal housing and built-in LEDs. The popular free 'VLC Media Player' program will open it on a Windows 7 or earlier PC. Select 'Media' > 'Open Capture Device' > and select 'USB2.0 Camera' as the 'Video Device Name'. Make sure the video is displaying as 640x480 (mine was). VLC will also record the video but I didn't mess with that. I chose this cam because of the small diameter. It has good focus at 1.5 inches and beyond; many others on Amazon focus much closer if that is what you need. I used it to examine car engine cylinders through small (12mm) spark plug holes, and could easily resolve cylinder wall honing marks. The built-in LED light is handy, but the picture was far clearer in the dark, reflective engine cylinder using a separate light (a handwired Mini-Maglite bulb in my case). This is also why pro photographers use a separated flash unit. The cam also comes with a magnet, hook, and most usefully to me a 45-degree mirror (~7mm OD) which threads securely onto the cam's housing. Using this basically requires external lighting since you again get too much reflected glare from the built-in lights. I also discovered the mirror has an almost imperceptible protective film you peel off- ah, much better now! The mirror allowed looking 'up' at the engine valves, etc, with some twisting about. I'll probably use it mostly for fishing wires; just add on USB cables for longer reach. The bend radius on the cable is ~1/2 inch, and tighter if you kink it.

Pizza instead...
What a peice of garbage. The focal length makes it useless for the intended purpose, looking at small things in a confined area. The proprietary app is unable to be opened after download. The camera app speced by the pig english directions is slow, glitchy, covered with adds so much so that your screen is a hunt and search and try again just to get the object where you can view it without a banner in place. Buy a pizza and while you wait, look for a better borescope camera.
