Perfect for testing
These are perfect especially for me as had an issue with our watersoftner, purchased these at a ridiculous price we'll worth the money.

Truth be told ...
Truth be told - I was cynical However, I'm pleasantly surprised. The strips work very well, and I can be 100% sure about this because I have my water softener connected to the hot water only. This is how I wanted it to be setup. I do not want my drinking water softened any more than it is, I actually have a separate filter for that anyway So, I did two tests, and as you can see from the photo. Green is the hot water tap result, and light brown is the cold water tap result. In a nutshell my hot water is soft, and my drinking water is mildly soft. Perfect! All-in-all a conclusive result and there are plenty of strips to last a very long time Would I recommend this product? 100% YES!

A pointless product.
It is VERY hard to use unless you have perfect colour vision There are minute differences between the colours the tested strip turns, and the colours printed on the chart are far more saturated than the strip colours; this makes comparison even more difficult. Save yourself the money and go to your local water company's website; there you will find an extremely accurate value! In the internet age, his product is as pointless as horse whips became a century ago.

Hard to read.
Very hard to distinguish the colours. It also comes up with a different (about 50 lower) hardness than a liquid test kit. (OK, the liquid might be wrong but it is the one supplied by the softener manufacturer, so I'm inclined to believe that. I guess I'll have to get another tester to try and get a 2 out of 3 result.)

Best Water Hardness Tester Yet
I've been waiting for something as simple and easy as this ever since I've had a water softener, so 15+ years. It's really easy to use, doesn't need batteries and this batch will likely last longer than I will. Great value too.

Basically useless
Total waste of money. I live in a very hard water area yet the strips barely changed colour. Also the colour chart bears no relation to the colour of the strips.
