The Album That Demanded Respect For The ATL (Rating: 10 out of 10- -5.0 stars)
You know, when I listen to a lot of rap albums before this dropped, not too many artists gave ATL a shoutout. It was like we were just some other city to them. When Outkast dropped "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik" back in 1994, they really put Atlanta on the map. Back then we didn't have too many acts from here. Only Arrested Development and A Van Full Of Pakastans. When they came out with "Players Ball" back in 1993, I can't tell you how much noise that made here. Me, being a little kid back then, I still remember when the radio stations played that song. "Players Ball" isn't the only hot song on here. There are many of them. "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik" is another hot track that the duo was about. Then there is "Crumblin' Erb" the smokin' song, layin' back and just chillin. The bouncy track "Ain't No Thang" was another standout song on this album. And "Hootie Hoo" is just plain sick in my opinion. Then we have the positive track "Git Up & Git Out" a song about doing something with your life. And I can't count how many people was using "Funky Ride" as their bump & grind song. The production by Organized Noize is straight southern and some of the best I've heard. This is one of those albums that I can play when I'm crusing the streets late at night. This is the album that had rap and hip hop listener know that Atlanta was not just another city. This also introduced a lot of people to Goodie Mob who dropped "Soul Food" a year later. Fact is: This is the best album to come out of Atlanta. Outkast has never topped this album (some say "Aquemini" came close). People down here may be listening to a lot of crunk and snap music, but when I play this album, they never forget this classic. This is what Southern Hip Hop is supposed to sound like. Word up. Oh yeah, they need to hit The Source for that other half mic. Lyrics: A+ Production: A+ Guest Appearances: A+ Musical Vibes: A+ Overall: A+ Top 5 Favorite Tracks: 1. Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik 2. Players Ball 3. Hootie Hoo 4. Ain't No Thang 5. Crumblin' Erb Peace Everyone!!

Classic
April 26th 1994 my life was changed forever! I was just a couple of years into discovering hip-hop/rap. 1992 brought us the "chronic" album, followed by "doggystyle" in 1993. And then out of the south comes "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik." In my opinion just as much of a classic as the other two albums mentioned above. I waited in line at the mall at midnight to purchase these albums. This was before mp3's, and p2p software for downloading such albums like napster, and limewire. - More about the album itself. Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik has a perfect blend of raw urban southern street life lyrics with live instruments and truly soulfull beats. This outkast before they had money, songs that reveal a coming of age album of two southern rappers just out of there teenage years. With songs that are a true reflection of there struggles, along with where and how they want to be. Songs like "get up, get out" tells you about just that. Every song on here is a work of art and perfection in its own right. It's not all about "pimpin hoes, and slammin cadillac doors." So don't hesitate, to add this to your classic collection. You won't be disappointed.

Classic Debut
Man the fact that this album is 10yrs old kinda makes me feel like an old man. It seemed like only yesterday when me and all of my friends were vibing to "Player's Ball". This is Outkast's first album. Not Aquemeni and not Speakerboxxx/Love Below. This album came out in 1994 (one of my favorite years in hip-hop) and the music on it is still timeless and classic to this day. On this one you can truly sit back and feel the vibe of it. I used to listen to it over and over when it first came out and I can't stop listening to it these days either. "Myintrotoletyouknow" just does it for me everytime. "Player's Ball" was the anthem back then but the "Player's Ball (reprise)" is even better. "Git Up Git Out" serves the purpose of encouraging America's youth to do something with their lives. Overall the album combines funk, jazz, and soul all into one. Big Boi and Andre flow like water over all of the songs. If you're one of the millions of new Outkast fans who bought Speakerboxxx/The Love Below then do yourself a huge favor and pick up this one. After you buy this one then go out and get Atliens and Aquemeni as well. I consider all three of their first albums to be classics with Atliens being slightly better than this one. Outkast embodies what the rest of southern rap should be and not just gold teeth rappers yelling nonsense over crunk beats. Hopefully Outkast won't retire from the hip-hop world and continue to give us great music for another 10yrs.

The first is the best
This was Outkast's first album, from 1994, and they look like babies. Well, teenagers--Andre looks about 14 and Big Boi maybe 16 or 17. Their voices sure are developed, though, and their amazing lyrics are delivered with smooth vocals. The music production is sublime, picking up on and advancing what was then a new A Town style. The Goodie Mob contributions are a treat as well and contribute to the whole sound being unbelievably deep and rich. Although I have remained a fan throughout the following decades and have to give a big shout out and much appreciation to Aquemini, their first effort remains their best and is worth going back to over and over, as it never gets old, and only gets better, when compared to all that has come since in the world of hip hop.

Wrong edition and dimpled
Not even the limited version as described on the listing, not numbered on the back side like in the picture. Record also came with dimples all over it. Havent tested to see how much playback is affected but its obvious the manufacturing process and quality control is poor on this release. I would avoid

El sur tiene algo que decir...
Una joya del Hip Hop con autentico sonido a Atlanta. Un gran logro para Organized Noize, Big Boi y Andre 3000 que marcaría una nueva era para el Hip Hop.
