Jumbo 3X Handheld Magnifying Glass - Large 5 Inch Lens - Easy Grip Ergonomic Handle

This is the largest magnifying glass that I have. It's 5 inch in diameter. The glass is made of some type of plastic and it's very clear. I like the first one so much that I purchased 2 more, and all 3 have the same quality. Some reviewers (1 star reviews) have complained that the magnification isn't 3x. I believe they're correct. It's closer to a 2x magnification. My eyesight is not that bad such that I can see the fine very well with this magnifying glass. It looks sturdy but I suspect the plastic lens will scratch easily. The lens is so large that I can read the width of a magazine column and the ingredients of a food label without moving the magnifying glass side to side.

I love this magnifying glass! This kind is extremely hard to find. This is to be used " for distance. " Excellent for using to read a laptops print or viewing, which is what I am using it for. Depending on your eyesight I use this at about 12 inches away from what I want to see. Works great! For those of you complaining no this is not for reading your medicine bottles. Or to look at your coins. I have bought so many that are only for that. That are useless to me when I need to hold a magnifying glass at a distance to see.

Since most of my mail is 8.5" wide, I wanted a larger lens, something I would not have to constantly move around on the page. This one does the trick. It's a plastic lens, but that just means it's lightweight. It makes very sharp, clear images. If they made a 6X or 10X version, in this large size, I would snap it up.

This unit is fairly well made and certainly large enough for reading maps or charts, etc. However, the magnification is low powered and really doesn't make much more difference than some generic reading glasses. If you really need to see detail, I'd recommend going up in magnifying power.

This is a very effective magnifier with a good design for the hand -- it is light in weight despite the generous lens size, and there are small finger and thumb grips strategically placed on the handle to make holding easier. Lens is consistent across full width; no scratches, flaws or distortions. Clean with mild diluted dishwashing liquid, rinse under running water, dry with soft cloth -- no problems. I certainly recommend both the product and doing business with this company.

Excellent prop for a Sherlock Holmes costume. Fails on everything else. 0/10, do not buy unless dressing up. Yes, it's sturdy plastic and looks capable enough, however anyone who has tried to actually use it to magnify something will know that at best it's a 1.25x magnification. See my photo of me holding the lens 3-4 inches above the text and notice just how SMALL the lettering is through the magnifying glass--it's almost not discernible which text is magnified and which isn't.

This is lightweight and clear enough to see well despite being a plastic lense. The 3X magnification is perfect to give you that extra detail you need and as I mentioned in the title I do not need to hold it next to what I am looking at, nor do I need to have it next to my eye. Anywhere about halfway in between or closer to the item being observed is adequate for comfortable wide view magnification of a fairly large area.

I've come to believe that the usefulness of any magnifying glass is dependent upon many factors, including the individual's vision challenges. It seems that each person's success with a particular glass is unique and one person's experience won't be the same for all persons. That said, I love the size of this magnifying glass. The 5" diameter is great for viewing a larger portion of whatever it is you're trying to see. It is comfortable in the hand and large enough not to 'get lost' on my computer desk. Unfortunately it didn't seem to have much magnification power, and perhaps that is a result of my macular degeneration and not the glass itself. One review said it was key to adjust both the distance of the glass from the object to be viewed, as well as the glass from your eyes. I'll try that and see if there's improvement.
