Drip Irrigation Kit, Drip Irrigation System for Garden with 1/4" Irrigation Tubing DIY Saving Water Automatic Watering System for Garden, Greenhouse, Flower Bed, Patio, Lawn

I absolutely love this irrigation kit. It pretty much has everything you need to set up a system. We used it to water five different vegetables, four huge pots of flowers and four smaller pots of flowers. So far everything is working great.

After installing a name brand drip system, I decided to run another one for another bed, but I needed more supplies. Since I had a lot of parts leftover, I just ordered the least expensive kit I could find on Amazon (this one). After installing it, I think it was a pretty good deal, but with some caveats. First, the tubing is very soft. This makes it easier to install, but it crushes much easier than the more rigid tubing in my name brand kit. Since I ran it along a sidewalk, I fully expect to have more problems than the name brand tubing would have. It probably won't last as long, either. Oh, and I'm sure this explains some of the complaints about poor flow. I used metal lawn staples to hold the tubing down, because the plastic tie downs come loose so easily, and I had to be careful or the lawn staplers would cut off the water flow. The spray and mist nozzles are nice, but I find it odd that the kit doesn't come with drip nozzles. Especially when it doesn't come with any right angle connectors, either, so you can point the spray/mist nozzles up where you want them. Lucky for me, I had plenty of leftover parts to make it work, but while this kit has an impressive amount of hardware, it does not have some key pieces that are common and needed, imo. It seems more intended to hang from above, so keep that in mind. Finally, it doesn't come with a backflow preventer, which may make it illegal to use some places. I doubt that many people will care, but big brand kits include one for good reason. Overall, I think it's a nice addition to a previously purchased kit for the extra supplies, but it lacks some important parts that some will need to make it work well.

Really had everything I needed, except a pressure regulator and timer. Getting this kit helped me. Understand how the parts work, too, for the next time when I need to do a larger irrigation project. Because of this kit, plus a pressure regulator (15 psi) and the timer, I actually have Tomatoes this year! I've never had garden success before.

With the system installed (per instructions), I found that the sprinkler heads they provide do NOT put out enough flow. It was down to very subtle drips at most. I tried bringing the garden hose as close as I can to the flowerbed, and trimming the line so that I had less distance with such a small diameter line to improve pressure, but it was negligible. I assumed it was due to a lack of pressure over a long distance, so I found another product to get a larger diameter runner to branch smaller lines off from, rather than using an entire small line. I got the new system, recycled all the smaller lines from the previous system, and incorporated it with the new one (didn't even touch the new system's small diameter line). I also installed some of the old sprinkler heads, and added some from the new ones where I felt appropriate. As I turned the system on, I realized two things. 1. The system did need a runner with a larger diameter to keep the pressure up over the length of line. Helped out a lot. 2. The sprinkler heads from the old product (the ones I'm reviewing here) are trash. All the new sprinkler heads ran very VERY well, and even with all the pressure the old ones STILL struggled to maintain some flow. I'd say the most flow I could get, if it was stuck upright, was about 1-2" in diameter, whereas the other sprinkler heads gave a flow of 1-1.5ft in diameter or so (maybe more, didn't measure), even WITH all the branches in the system (there were 17 I think). All in all, save your money. Very good irrigation kit. Had most of the parts I needed to set up automatic watering on my rare fig tree collection. Was very easy to set up once I decided on the layout, and it works very well. No leaks. It is very flexible and connected to other irrigation kits with no issues at all. Very adjustable to fit your application and plenty of hose and connectors.

As the pictures show we have a good number of potted flowers. We went on vacation for over a week where a number of days it was over 90 degrees. I set this up on a timer for every other day for 10 minutes and it kept the flowers in great condition. So that's the good news. It was a pain to setup the first time. It took about 2 hours of planning and measuring and installing. Attaching the tubing to the drip outlets was difficult. Definitely soak the tubing in hot water for 15+ minutes before attempting to install. With that I needed small pliers to twist the tubing on and that caused a number of leaks that needed to be redone. Also, it is made for a lower water pressure then a normal house, so I needed to buy a pressure reducer ($5 at Lowes). Now that I did it, I simply removed all the tubing and drip outlets as one unit and coiled it like a hose. Now I never have to do the full set-up process again. So, yeag, it was a pain to setup, but it worked great and I would recommend it.

Really good quality and easy to install. Make life easier

It’s fairly straight forward to set up, with multiple hose fittings to connect to your outlet. Only issue is that plants near the hose have much more line pressure than those further away the line. If you want equal volume of water for each outlet, you need to adjust the dial at each outlet. The problem is that for my setup, my further plants have the dial loosened all the way, and my closest have it tightened all the way, and can be a bit tricky to set up. What might be easier is variable thickness pipes to make it a bit easier so you still have adjustability. Definitely not a major issue, but does take more time to calibrate if this is a concern.
