From #1 New York Times bestselling author Neil Gaiman, a contemporary masterpiece combing mythology, adventure, and illusion―one of ten classic Gaiman works repackaged with elegant original watercolor art by acclaimed artist Henry Sene Yee Released from prison, Shadow finds his world turned upside down. His wife has been killed; a stranger offers him a job and Shadow, with nothing to lose, accepts. But a storm is coming. Beneath the placid surface of everyday life, a war is being fought – and the prize is the very soul of America. An inspired combination of mythology, adventure, and illusion, American Gods is a dark and kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth and across an America at once eerily familiar and utterly alien. It is, quite simply, a contemporary masterpiece. “Piercingly observed, jaggedly poetic, ruthlessly cutting a path through graveyards of dead stars and dead money and dead feelings, this novel is the map back to dawn.” — Steve Erickson “ American Gods manages to reinvent, and reassert, the enduring importance of fantastic literature itself in this late age of the world. Dark fun, and nourishing to the soul.” — Michael Chabon Review: One of my all-time favorite books - One of my all-time favorite books, American Gods completely pulled me into its strange, haunting, and unforgettable world. Neil Gaiman blends mythology, Americana, and fantasy in such a unique way that it feels both magical and deeply human. The characters are unforgettable, the storytelling is immersive, and the atmosphere lingers long after the final page. It’s one of those rare books that makes ordinary places feel enchanted, hidden, and alive with ancient stories. A masterpiece for anyone who loves dark fantasy, folklore, and thought-provoking adventures. Review: Brilliant novel - Fantastic book that I can’t recommend enough. Very interesting concepts and world building and a very interesting take on power. I’m trying to be vague to avoid spoilers.

Legends Of Lore
Often when a book I am reading is coming to an end, I begin to feel down, knowing that the characters I've been exploring will soon part. The main character in Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" also had this effect on me, but at the same time, I was glad to see his story end. The characters name is "Shadow" and his adventure will take him throughout the U.S.A., with grifters, drunks, police men, hitch-hikers, and gods. He will converse with the dead, gamble against deities, drive with immortals, and eat some decent meals along the way. His path is one that you will be unable to guess where it is heading next, and that perhaps is Gaimans greatest strength as a writer; he entices you with imagination and leads you through a maze, and you cannot help but follow. "American Gods" explores the Lore of civilizations all over the world, and how they came to the shores of America, and once here, what happened to them. It is a fantastic read, I loved it.

Great book
I hadn’t read this in about 10 years and remembered really liking it, so I ordered it to revisit the book. It is a GREAT read, very engaging. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because of what looks like a problem in the printing process on page 143 (shown in picture).

My favorite Neil Gaiman book
Gaiman’s idea for this story is wholly original and brilliantly executed. I don’t want to wreck the surprise so just read other’s synopses if you like. The book is ten times better than the tv series based on it. Just read it. Gaiman is one of the most imaginative writers working today. Enjoy!

American Gods
Excellent book. The TV show is almost scene for scene like the first few chapters of the book. But after Ch. 3 you're on your own. Wonderfully researched, you get introduced to dozens of Gods and visit the back roads of the United States. Delivery was fast and in great condition.
