UL-listed, work very well at making connections, easy to open and close
North America and Europe differ in many ways. 120V vs 240V, 60 Hz vs 50 Hz, wire nuts vs Wagos. While the first two differences are unlikely to change, the Wago 221 makes it easy to eliminate the third. Wire nuts make good, solid connections, but they require a lot of time-consuming twisting, don't allow for easy checking of connections, and it can be difficult to connect a large number of wires together under a single properly-sized nut. Connecting different gauge wiring can sometimes be problematic. The Wago 221 also makes good, solid connections, but it doesn't require any twisting at all, has a small test port to probe with a meter for testing, has a clear plastic shell that makes it easy to verify that wires are inserted correctly, and with 2, 3, and 5 port connectors it's easy to connect wires of any supported gauge to each other. They work with both stranded and solid wires. The tinned current bars ensure a gas-tight connection, so you don't need to worry about the connections oxidizing over time. Wago connectors are extremely common in Europe, with millions upon millions being used (just like wire nuts in North America). Using them is easy: just strip the wire to the length indicated on the side of the connector, make sure the wire is straight, lift the lever for the port you want to use, insert the wire, look to make sure it's all the way in, and lower the lever back down. Done. If you ever need to remove a wire, just lift the lever and pull the wire out. There's a little mark on the wire where the connector "bites" into the wire. They're UL listed and rated for 20+ amps of current, so you can confidently use them around the house anywhere you'd use wire nuts. I connected a circuit with a wire nut, plugged in a 1500W space heater, and let it run for an hour or two, then measured the temperature of the wires with a thermal camera. I then replaced the wire nut with a 221 and repeated the test. There was negligible difference in temperature between the two connectors, which made me feel confident that it was making a high-quality, low-resistance connection. While I do often use them for joining two wires, they really shine when I need to connect many wires. No need to bother getting five wires all lined up right for a wire nut, twist the nut on, then wonder if the connection for all the wires are good. With a 221, I just put them one-at-a-time into a 5-port connector and move onto the next task.

Superbly useful. Why didn't I know about it sooner.
Helpful. No need to worry about loose connection and burning the socket.
