My New Favorite Tool - Highly Recommended!
I did so much research on which die cutting machine I should purchase, even asking friends who own different brands and came to the conclusion that this was the die cutter for me. Here's why... hope this helps others who are looking. 1. The smaller size allows me to run materials through with less cranking of the handle. 2. The handle is built to reduce the number of cranks you need to do to run the material through. 3. It turned out that I work better by running through a couple of dies at a time (if they are thinlets, shapelets etc.) and although I was concerned the 6" base would be too small, it holds all the dies I want to run through for that color and then some. 4. The side fold up making storage easy. This also makes it easy to transport. Sometimes I want to craft in my studio, other times in front of the TV, so it's super easy to pickup (via the handle) and place wherever I want. 5. The brand is Spellbinder which is very high quality, so I know it will probably last me forever. 6. The die cutter comes with everything you need to get started. Just purchase the dies you want to use for cutting and you're good to go. 6. They sell the plastic replacement cutting plates in a set and as of the writing of this review, they are affordably priced. 7. It came with a super easy to understand instruction booklet about how to setup the plates and the base plate even has assembly instructions for how to make the sandwich of plates for whatever you are trying to cut with. I am a total newbie at this and didn't know what people were talking about with the sandwich of plates and this manual got me from newbie to expert in a matter of minutes. 8. It is heavy which is good! This helps to keep it in place while running the dies around. That way it's not sliding around all over the table. Yeah, I can't say enough good things about this little cutting machine. I own a Silhouette Curio and a Silhouette Cameo, (which I LOVE!) but nothing cuts felt like this machine. It's a work horse and handles well. This is my new favorite tool in the studio. Very Highly Recommended!

Platinum 6 an excellent craft machine
I was using my SIL brand new Big Shot. I liked using it so I decided to buy my own machine. Shopping around I found this machine, the Platinum 6.. It has a solid metal construction and I like it better because of the fact that it folds up so it does save space and it is easier to carry around. Compared to this fold up machine, the Big Shot is bulky. The Platinum 6 also has a smoother rolling performance and easier cranking that the BS. I bought this machine used but it still performs excellently. The rolling action is so smooth that the dies don't slip around if you don't have a magnetic plate, unlike other machines. Also, with other machines, you have to purchase the embossing pad and plate separately. Both came with the machine, so more bang for the buck. :)

Excellent Machine
This is an incredibly delightful machine. It's on the expensive side, but worth the money. Buying all the die cutting sets to use with the machine can also add up to a lot of money invested in this type of crafting. However, once you start using it, it's addictive. It's fun to see the die-cut result, whether it be embossing, debossing or hot foiling. The only criticism I have has to do with the die-cuts. They're usually small and meant to be used on the smaller A2 size cards instead of the large 5x7 cards that I like to design. But overall, the machine brings a lot of joy!

So happy with it
I have been scrapbooking and making cards for almost 20yrs after the birth of my first child. With that being said I really didn’t have the money long ago to get one. Until recently I was given a gift card and I knew what I wanted instantly! After a lot of research I decided on this one. So glad I did! I have had his Spellbinders platinum 6 since April and use it at least three times a week...I love, love, love it! It die cuts great and embosses great, it folds up to take less room on my desk but love keeping it out because I use it so often.... it is perfect all the way around!

Smooth and strong
Heavy duty, solid metal construction is why I decided to purchase the Platinum 6 and I am very happy with it. It fits perfectly on the shelf and is very convenient to set up, use and then put away. It worked perfectly first time with Spellbinders and Sizzix thin dies. Perfectly clean cuts on the first past with hot press bristol paper. Smooth and strong action.

Turn over the plates frequently.
I love, love, love this machine. It arrived in a timely manner. Boxed well. It is very easy to use and very self explanatory. The bottom plate has all the instructions. You do need to be mindful though of the need to flip your cutting plates over often, as they will warp, making it difficult to turn the handle. The cutting plates do get marked up fairly quickly but that doesn’t present a problem. Also getting new cutting plates is easy and inexpensive. I have another die cutting machine it works okay but there have been dies that I have struggled with using the other machine. It has trouble cutting some of the more intricate dies. This little platinum 6 by spellbinder hasn’t had a problem.

A fine, fine product
It was delivered !two! days early, so I left the vacuum in the middle of the floor and started using it right away. It's easy enough for my limited mobility arms to crank without problems, and it does a great job on die cuts with cardstock. Other materials and embossing come next, and it's a sturdy little guy with a small footprint, so I have high hopes. Glad the vacuum's still out because there's a confetti storm on the carpet.
