Designed to keep the cable in the clip all of the time and pull out enough to use or to constantly remove and replace cable as needed?

I put one on side of desk and plugged into the ups on the floor. The length between the holder and the loose end falls over loose so I can pick it up to plug into device for charging in my desk. But you can insert and remove cables as needed as to the holder.

Can it bend to stick to curved surfaces or is it solid and only able to stick to flat surfaces?

It is slightly flexible however I don’t think it would work on a curved surface. If you bend it the holes that hold the cords would expand open.

Will these accommodate round Cat 5 cable?

It would be tight to get a Cat 5 cable in the slot

Anyone use these with xlr or guitar cables? Wondering if the slots are big enough.

These work great to keep my wires tidy. They're super sticky, so be sure where you want them before placing. I moved one just after placing and wouldn't want to do it again for fear of leaving residue or losing sticky stuff from back of product. The wire slots are tight. So I very slightly trimmed the rubber on one side of a couple slots in order to fit wider cables. Be careful though as a tiny trim goes a long way to widen the slot. The picture shows one holder. There are 2 others on the bottom of this table to further route the wires. I'm completely satisfied with this purchase and would buy more if I need them.
