Fantastic little switch!
I already have a 10Gb switch in my rack cabinet, but I just got a 5G modem that has a 2.5Gbit port on the back. The best place the 5G modem works is in my loft. I have one cable going from upstairs to downstairs and it's a Cat5E cable I put in when I moved into my house. Then I took the cat5e cable from upstairs to downstairs and plugged that in, and it's happily doing 10 gig over that cable. I have now successfully connected the 5G modem at 2.5Gbit, and as a bonus, I stuck a 10G copper card in my upstairs computer and hooked that up to it too and I can get 100MB/sec to my NAS with it and it would probably do more if the drives in my NAS were faster but i'm happy with that speed. I've made use of the VLANs too and that works just fine. This is a very impressive little switch and the 1/2.5/10G ports on it are great for my needs. It is very easy to administer via the web gui. You can configure a VLAN in about 2 or 3 clicks. I haven't found a single negative thing to say about it. Would buy again and recommend it.

Well built
Ive hung on a while before reviewing, just in case any problems occurred later on. This is a very well built switch...like the proverbial tank! It runs warm to the touch but not hot. I have a 10Gbe router but at the moment only have a 2.5Gbe card in my iMac Pro . The management console is easy to navigate , has plenty of functions although I have not really tested them yet. my average speeds to server are about 1700 Mbps which for a 2.5Gbe card is fairly decent. Ive bought this in anticipation of upgrading to a full 10Gbe network. So its well built and works and is a decent price, what more do you want.

Not bad, not excellent, a couple of issues - and apparently not completely reliable
Had a pair for about a year now, they're not bad but not quite as good as the GS series Zyxel switches I have - mostly because the management interface is a pale shadow of those. *Usually* the switches are fine, but I've had a couple of problems - link aggregation has dropped out on one of them twice now which results in a loop & some swearing; unfortunately trying to de-configure the aggregation via the web interface gives an error & doesn't do anything,, so it seems the only way to fix it is to reset the switch entirely & reconfigure it. Secondly on the other one, one of the 10Gb ports has just died. Not really what I'd expect quality wise. Otherwise, they just get on with the job - run quite hot as most 10Gb gear does, and the fan is pretty noisy but doesn't kick in very often - but no performance issues & VLAN config is quite easy ( and you can get rid of VLAN 1 completely unlike some others ). Would I buy again? would not be my first choice if there's options with better management interfaces, but generally I've had pretty good experiences with Zyxel gear for small lab work. Edit: it's 5th August and the weather has been warm & humid for a while, but not what I'd call hot - and two of the 10Gb ports have failed on the other switch, and no amount of resetting & powercycling has fixed anything. Needless to say I probably won't be buying another of this series - the other Zyxel GS 1Gb switches I have are still working as flawlessly as ever though. Zyxel tech support have been great. Edit: and as a followup - it's 15th March 2023, ie the next March after the previous comment, and one of the switches has now lost it's last 10Gbit RJ45 socket. I have fibre plugged in the SFP+ port which is still working, but as that's now the only 10Gbit port left alive it's a bit pointless! I think I'll just have to bite the bullet & get a proper managed switch as a replacement. I actually like the fully managed Zyxel gear I have so I'm not about to ditch Zyxel based on these products, but I have to say my faith is a bit shaken. Edit again: Zyxel RMA ( at least in the UK/EMEA region ) is excellent: once I finally got round to starting a RMA it was all sorted in a couple of days even though I'm not registered as a business customer. Point back for that.

2 units failed within 19 months
I've had 2 of these, one after the other and the first failed in less than 10 months, the second failed in around 9 months. Both times multiple 10Gb ports failed.

Very noisy even under minimal load.
Advertised as "whisper quiet". The opposite. Under minimal load the fan roars in burst. Ambient temperature in room.

Set up was not great
I was impressed by what I read and my decision was managed or unmanaged. Having gone for managed and read reviews of how easy it was to set up either by contact to the ip address for the switch or using the software I was dismayed to fined I could do neither. The software does not come in a format for Mac OS and tdespite repeated attempts the ip address route kept displaying a 'server not responding' error. It works fine without adjust at the moment but when I have 2.5 or 5GBit ancillaries I will want to manage them and this will be frustrating.

Lautstärke: In o.g.

Not a lot of options in the GUI and the VLAN assigning is very confusing.
