EXCELLENT 2m/70CM antenna.
This is a great 2m/70cm antenna. BUT, being a Tram, and having had Tram products, some I'm still using after over 30 years, I expected that. Decided on this unit for price, ease of installation and net gain vs the over twice as large other Tram unit. Going from a copper J-Pole, the Tram had some instant advantages. Has a 65 ft run of LMR-400 feeding it. SO, even a lowily 5 watt max output handheld is hitting repeators 30-40 miles away with good signal reports. Can't wait to get my Yaesus FT-2980r back from service (For the 2nd Time. Hopefully, it'll be fixed this time) In the mean time, have an Alinco DR 130T I'm wanting to try on it. Don't have it mounted terribly high off the ground...Maybe 25 feet to the base. I could take it to the center of the house (Chimney) BUT want to keep things as simple as possible if I need to take down what I've got. PLUS, I'm older now and don't want to roll off the roof. ALL that aside, this unit should be easier to hide, being black, than a white or silver antenna if you're in one of those "Neighborhoods" that complain about everything. PLUS, it's less expensive. Take heed of all those that suggest you put a little extra effort into sealing the joints on these antennas. It's just good practice....

I fully tested it, it works as claimed!
Easy to assemble. Ran a return loss test and i get a good match on both bands. Tested it operationally and pleased with performance

Works great!
Put this up to replace a Comet GP-3 that bit the dust. This antenna is working just as well and at a lower price. I had no issues assembling it and putting it up. SWR is fine on both VHF and UHF and I'm getting into local repeaters super clean on low power. Can't really ask for more.

Very Low Quality, Defective, no way to contact seller (China)
The first (Tram 1480-B) was defective (Infinate SWR All freq). I returned it for a replacement. The second one arrived. It too was defective Off the scale SWR. It appeared used. Some of the hardware was missing. I retunred it and asked for a refund. I then went online and searched for a better antenna Diamond X50. I was easily able to talk to the seller on the phone. The antenna has a 1-year warrantee. It will arrive in only 2 days. Only cost $20.00 more that the Tram Fiasco. My advice is don't buy from 3rd party sellers on Amazon. Only buy from people that answer their phone and are happy to talk to you and answer your questions.... P.S. All of this took about a month to resolve and I still have to wait for the refund.

Make sure all the radials are fully seated with locking nuts tight.
Received my antenna on time, well packaged. Truly tuned out of the box. Very simple to put together. Using this antenna with a 25 watt retrvis radio,50ft of 213 coax. Reaching repeaters as far away as 50 miles. I highly recommend. Swr"s on vhf 1.00-1.3....uhf are 1.2-1.6.

Decent antenna for the money
Overall I’ve had good luck with Tram Browning antennas and this one is no exception. I do suggest additional sealing of the mid point joint. This antenna performs very well, equal to units produced by at least two other major manufacturers (names starting with C and D) at a much lower cost.
