Warning: While this is a good scanner, keep in mind that you can not add custom preambles. For instance, our Point of Sale requires a Ctrl-F2 as a preamble in order to send quantity 1 and then the barcode. So if we want to just keep scanning over and over to add quantity one by one, we can. This barcode scanner doesn't have that function so in order to use this with our Point of Sale system, we would have to type in the quantity every time before scanning. This isn't ideal for scanning a lot of items. Also, it has a motion sensor scanning function that cannot be turned off which isn't all that bad but could cause issues if accidentally rolls back under the scanner somehow. We are using these for our inventory day at the end of the year and they will work great for our intended purposes but you may need a more high end scanner to work with your Point of Sale system.

Works Perfectly! Truly Plug & Play with Windows 8.1. Like many others I'm using it for my Collectorz.com software for books and I went through over 200 books in about 40 minutes. To say that I'm happy is an understatement, lol. The unit is lightweight, but has a long USB cord and I didn't have to do a thing to start scanning away.

This is the perfect scanner for a classroom teacher. I discovered free software from Classroom Organizer that would allow me to organize my classroom and create a real library feel. I wanted a quality but inexpensive scanner. The TaoTronics scanner has been the perfect fit. I didn't have to install any software - it was simply plug and play. I was able to use it immediately and had no trouble scanning many items. It recognizes even the most challenging barcodes. The added stand will be perfect for storing this scanner and was extremely easy to put together. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a scanner!

Works great, however one disappointment is the clips break as soon you try to assemble the holder. Luckily they have screws as well to hold it together, otherwise would have sucked big time. Gonna order another one and will try to be extra careful when assembling the stand

Got this to replace an old PS/2 scanner that wasn't working properly. This has been great. No programming required for our use, but did included a booklet with programming codes. The instructions were translated poorly, but I haven't needed them yet.The stand is a little flimsy, but has performed it's job so far.I have not had a need to contact support.

The scanner itself is excellent, but the stand broke upon assembling it. I ended up having to Gorilla Glue the base together as the plastic was fairly cheap in construction. If it weren't for the poor stand design, this would easily be a 5 start unit.

works as expected no frills just what is needed would be better is it fit more securely in the stand. seams as if the stand mold was for a unit slightly smaller
