HEY AMAZON, I think this question is attached to the wrong item. I'm seeing the question on item B00BDFQCXA, which is the Akai MPX8, which does not have the ability to sample sounds directly. (I physically have an MPX8 on the desk in front of me, along with its manual. It does NOT have any "inputs" at all. The only way to use custom samples on the MPX8 is to load them from an SD card.) The fact that several people have already answered to say that it CAN sample directly, suggests that the question and answers are talking about a different item - and when I click on the question to see all of the answers, it's showing a link to item B00J4JPUFS, which is the Akai MPX16, which is NOT the same item. I'm not sure how this question got attached to the wrong item, but shoing this question on the MPX8 product page is going to cause confusion, and might cause a customer to buy an MPX8 thinking it can sample, and then return it when they find that it can't.

can this be triggered using my Simmons SD 9 ?

Probably not, as your only option would be to go via midi. The MPX8 midi implementation is lacking (search for midi running status) and Akai never bothered to fix the firmware. What does that mean for you? That as soon as you start using it, it keeps missing notes: e.g. hit the SD9 3 times and the 3rd won't sound. The only thing MPX8 has going for it: cheap. But then, Akai *is* cheap.

Will this store sounds and voices that you can play while broadcasting

We use this MPX8 to play voice announcements of our standard 4 messages to operate our Outdoor Shooting Range. It plays back our recorded wav voice files with clarity throughout the our day. We plan to buy another as a backup.

How big are the pads? Could I activate them with my feet to provide effects for a show?

Each pad square is about 1 1/4" x 1 1/4", so using your feet (especially with shoes) will probably not work without running into the other pads

gebraucht für 50€ ist genug für das Teil mit 8 Speicherplätzen.. JA : der MPX8 ist ein echter Sample Abspieler .. zwei Tage dauert es , bis alles auch im Kopf gespeichert ist : WEIL : SD card 4 GB ideal , genau formatieren FAT32 standard keine Unterordner nur kleine Sample 3 bis 10 sekunden in 16bit WAV neue Firmware kann stereo WAV lesen MP3 to WAV in WaveEditor.exe zurecht schneiden WAV mit Audacity.exe nochmal sauber speichern : hier Lautstärke und Balance auf mittleren Wert exportieren. MEHRMALS PROBIEREN : BIS ALLES KLAPPT und WICHTIG IMMER das ganze als KIT i01 bis i10 saven. Bedienungsanleitung genau lesen und mit Google Tips suchen hier ist die neue KI von Google mal nützlich.... es gibt verschiedene Foren , weil der MPX8 ist so schon 10 Jahre auf Markt FAZIT : kompliziert im Anfang , mit der Zeit kommt der Erfolg.. Leider stellt AKAI keine ausführlichen Hinweise als Bilder zur Verfügung. Für unter 90€ sind da 8 Pads , die auch mit MIDI kanal 10 gespielt werden.. Anschlagdynamik ist brutal , weil intern nicht abschaltbar. Doch mit MIDI kann der Tastenanschlag geregelt werden. Ideal mit 5volt Akku für mobilen Einsatz MERKE : 5 volt 2.5 ampere weil das MPX8 mit SD-card "frisst" viel Strom (sonst funktionert die SD-card nicht einwandfrei.) können auch micro SD mit Adapter benutzt werden, wenn der MPX8 genug Strom bekommt Der MPX8 Editor ist nicht nützlich : denn die WAV Samples können direkt im PC auf die SD-card kopiert werden. HIER auch Kopien auf USB-Stick speichern fürs eigene Sample-Archiv
